I read that as the first £5k of your total was 0.01% ! It's ambiguous to me, all it says is 0->5k is 0.01% and 5k->1M is 2.25%. No, under 5k is 0.1% Not that it makes much difference, anything below 2% is uncompetitive now.
That was a typo. Now I'm confused. Are you saying if you invest 10k, you get 0.1% on 5k, and 2.25% on 5k ? That is how I read it but I've no idea now as I always pass when they add trivial conditions.

No, you would get 2.25% on the whole £10k balance. " Interest is calculated daily at the interest rate for the balance in the Account at the end of that day. As long as you have £5,000 or more in the Account you will receive the variable interest rate for the whole balance in your Account."

Al Rayan Everyday Saver Issue 3 expected profit rate of 2.35% (£5,000+) I've seen Charters' offer this morning - registered and opened the account, but decided to wait until the end of next week before making a deposit in case somebody else comes up with a better offer. At 16:30 got the email from Al Rayan (since opening issue 3 they've been on the top of IA game)... so no need for Charters any more. I don't think I've ever done this before, opening an account and dumping it on the same day. One thing i didn't like about Charters is the requirement for min 5k in one go. I like making £1 deposit first to make sure I've made no error. Don't understand the purpose of this rule, it's 0.1% for under 5k balance anyway, so it is in saver's interest to get it up to 5k.
Yes, you have to deposit the full 5k at once with Charter Bank or they will reject it and bounce the payment back to you. I tried to do an initial 100 deposit which I normally do to test I have the details right before depositing a larger amount, and was told it would bounce back into my account. The account pays 0.1% until you have over 5k it is not an error.

Yes I thought this is the only option to avoid the trip to branch. I've just done it. New account, appeared on line immediately. Now it is just changing my two existing DDs from Lloyds (they are no longer useful there) to this new account, send 1k there and back and £160 should arrive in about 3 months. I got my £160 after switching online.

Opening atom one year account is quick and easy. Transferring funds into this new account is instant.
Meanwhile, my FPS withdrawal today during office hours from Al Rayan is being delayed. No money yet after 2 hours to two different beneficiaries.

Barclays "Rainy Day Saver" offers 5.12% on balances up to 5k. Instant access. Comes with a condition to be a member of "Blue Rewards" which consists of 2 active DD's and £800 in (and out ) every month in order to avoid £5 fee. It may sound complicated, but really easy to set up if you have spare direct debits - I just had two freed up from Santander as I've received my Santander bonus and no longer need to have DDs there (thank you Santander for good timing ).

Penrith Building Society notice accounts: 2.55% for 30 days notice, 2.75% for 60 days notice, 2.95% for 90 days. Edit: appears you have to provide physical proof of identity, e.g. passport/driving license ("We will need to see original documents, except if they are sent to us by post. In this case we will accept certified copies of documents"). What a pain.

The rainy day saver is definitely attractive

Family Building Society - 2yr tracker bond. Base Rate plus 0.85% so currently 3.1%.
Potentially around 6.3% if Base Rate goes up the forecast of around 5.5%. Sounds ok but in 1yr or 2yrs time who knows.....?

I think locking up for anything more than 3 months at the moment is probably unwise. Could be some great deals on assets in the coming months (assuming we are not all blown up).

Bottom line, money arrive next working days latest. A few banks seem to be having problems at the moment. Chase is in chaos for many and Lloyds is very glitchy for me today. The paranoid corner of my mind is suspecting Russian cyber attacks, the more rational bit is just thinking bank apps are mostly untested enough.
