The emails keep dropping in my inbox:
- Santander keep plugging their 3 year fixed rate product at 0.7%
- The N, S & I 3 year green savings bond at 1.3% looks almost too good to be true
Monument is a new arrival and I believe needs £25k invested

it hardly seems worthwhile considering an ISA this year. In fact MSE suggests go for fixed rate account as most wont pay tax on savings anyway. S&S projected returns may be as low as 3.5% this year . A mate of mine is buying up old motorbike parts as an investment , dont laugh, some parts for older machines have doubled in 12 months! Maybe he is not so daft after all!

One option is a flexible cash ISA, stick it in to preserve the allowance for future years, then take it out and stick somewhere better ... only issue is you need to be able to get it out to stick it back in in Apr but even if you cant youll actually no worse off as you would have lost the allowance anyway.

Zopa's 1 year rate 12 month saver has crept up to 1.66% the others have gone up too i think although i'd not bother with them.
Wonder how far these might lift up to. (fingers crossed the competition is starting to lift things)

Liked the look of this so decided to open an account. First snag there is no switch facility so I can't use an old dormant account and have to enter everything. Next snag they want a photo of my passport and one of myself and then compare them. Took multiple attempts but got it in the end. Now waiting for details to be checked. Edit later: Got a text saying checks completed but the app still says "We are checking the application and will text you when completed"

This selfie thing took me a long time to achieve, but apart from this the opening of current account was very quick and easy. Opened it about a month or two ago and since then do all my purchases with Chase card (can't go wrong with 1% cash back). Opening savings account was about 3 clicks long - that was the quickest account opening I've ever experienced . Now I have to do a lot of transfers from my lower paying accounts .

Looks like the 1.5% has generated enough demand to overwhelm their systems. App won't load and long wait time on help line.

Looks like the 1.5% has generated enough demand to overwhelm their systems. App won't load and long wait time on help line. I've made about 10 deposits today and each time logged in to check the arrival, no problems with the App for me, quick as normal. Transferring from Halifax was a problem. Was trying to empty my two Reward accounts (it's only 5k in each). They stopped the payment and I had to call fraud department (otherwise they will suspend my accounts in 24 hours), phone call took about 40 minutes and they couldn't resolve the problem telling me to visit a branch... Not fancy a branch visit, so I've used my Bank of Scotland profile to log in and done it all through their website. Now Halifax can lock my empty accounts if they wish. Only a few years ago I was able to bounce any sum under 20k from bank to bank without any hassle. A couple of weeks ago I was transferring £5,500 from Lloyds to Virgin, payment was stopped and I had to phone their fraud department. They explained the reason - apparently 5.5 k is a very large sum. I've asked what is the maximum sum that won't trigger the alarm - didn't get an answer for this. It was sorted at the end of 20 minute conversation and payment went through. Now the same thing with Halifax, but they couldn't sort it.... so to be on a safe side I'm now doing transactions in under £500 chunks (a bit extreme, but I have no idea what the limit is before you are referred to "fraud"). Has anyone had a similar experience with major banks or is it just me being cursed?

Has anyone had a similar experience with major banks or is it just me being cursed? Im in shuffle mode at the moment ... no issues shifting £4500 from Lloyds to TSB or same from TSB to Nationwide, £2.5k from Allicia (chip) to Halifax and then on to TSB. Certainly not had any issues shifting £5k previously. Caps tend to be £10-25k, though some are per transfer and others are daily limits. That said if its unusual it will flag whatever ... annoying but hard to complain.
