I thought this video summed up the general fish issues well. Of course there are bigger issues with the seemingly banned shell fish. The paperwork, vet bills, port delays and lower fish prices.... I hope things are streamlined and also prices pick up as the covid situation improves. I thought the issue with shell fish was cleaning. They have to be cleaned before they are sold to the end user, but once cleaned they have a short shelf life. The catch use to be cleaned at the EU end, but this is not now possible. So the need to clean in UK reduces the time available for distribution in EU.

The cleaning renews their shelf life which if done in the EU means they arrive fresh at the endpoint, if done in the UK they dont. Seems to be one of those bureaucratic muddles as while there is no ban, there is no permission either. There is a relatively simple solution of just adding the UK to the Third Country list of permitted sources which appears to have been the intention but doesnt seem to have come into force.

The Irish Sea border is a nightmare for GB-NI logisitics, so what's the answer? Reunification?

I expect as a minimum a compromise to let assistance dogs cross the border more easily and some more food in return for some more red tape and checks. It is up to the EU how much they want to flex now I think.

How about putting the sea border south of the republic, so checks only need to happen between EU and Eire

Build some Church of Englands around the place....bring in some proper beer....civilize the place....you know..... Now where has my copy of King and Country gone.... Sorry in a daft mood today - better have a covid test. Actually, if you had a ref who would you poll? N.Ireland only, Island of Ireland plus or minus the rest of the UK ?

I think a united Ireland is or should be inevitable, the EU membership of half of it complicates things a lot.

Imagine if brexit had been decided on an EU wide vote.

But then what if say Cornwall wanted to become independent? I think most people would imagine that would take a vote across the UK to agree to that. MAybe not ? Yes N.Ir clearly isn't Cornwall but at some point there is a line, where is it drawn and who draws it ? Not always easy to answer questions.
