I see the minimum amount for the auto investment option is £500 which is fine but can this then be topped up £100/ month or does each additional deposit required to be of £500 or more also?

You can top up smaller amounts. See previous discussion, with a conclusion here.

You can top up the autoinvest by small increments. As soon as you have at least £50 free in autoinvest it will be automatically pledged to the next property. If you update by £100 each month then it may be allocated to the next one or two properties that come along. (The maximum pledge size is limited to ten per cent of your investment - so £50 to begin with, but as you add more funds to autoinvest that maximum pledge can increase - though you'll have to do this manually.)

Reading that thread has answered one question then raised another, does the value in the autoinvest wallet always need to be £500 or above to get an allocation?
So if I transferred £500 today, got a £100 allocation for arguments sake, would I need to top up to £500 or more to get another allocation?

No, you don't need to maintain a balance of £500. I usually keep zero balance to avoid accidentally investing in some of the more dodgy multi-phase development loans, you can top up £50 from zero.
