I might also leave £500 quid in the NS&I account at 0% if they don't actually start charging for it so we can run funds easily back into that account. I was thinking of doing that too but am still undecided. Wouldn't it be just as easy to open another IB account? 500 is quite a wedge to leave earning 0.01% It is but in the scheme of things and in the face of large sums being charge a premium to be looked after might not be that bad. I forgot the 0.01% but to be fair we can afford to keep 500 in there if its a stash where no charges are hitting us down the line - surely boris will have it closed off at some point anyway - although zero rates will be useful to the govt I guess so maybe they will be in favour of banks charging but NS&I not. As you say its goes against the grain but desperate times call for desperate measures sometimes (fees avoidance wise). I may even break a habit of lifetime and load up 50k into PB's but feel to much like gambling and that never went well everytime I went to las vegas - all very boring! (Only used 50$ to be fair and was lucky the machine gobbled it up and never gave me any incentive to gamble again!). As I have said elsewhere the NSP at present is bolstering us up too and probably colouring my judgement of late on the 0.01% angle but who knows.
