........... allowed to interfere with their liquid lunches.
Followed by a very nice, very long afternoon nap.
"It's not our money!"
That is all.

Rather than just do the basic day job properly and police the sector effectively, it's good to see that the FCA have their priorities right:-
"The finance sector watchdog bought “gaming” computer screens and racing car-style office chairs for its staff to use at home in a £416,000 splurge during the first lockdown.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which regulates tens of thousands of businesses, was among the most lavish spenders uncovered in an investigation by The Times."

I'm genuinely surprised it's not more than £416k. With nudging 4,000 staff that's barely £100 each - a 'proper' office chair would frequently be around three or four times that sum on its own. (Of course, the article itself fails to mention the number of staff - a sense of perspective diminishes the sensational nature of the reporting considerably.) What was of more interest to me was the link to an article reporting the 69,000 complaints received by the FO in the three months of July to September 2020 -- jeez, no wonder it's taking some complainants 6-12months to get so much as a substantive reply, let alone any form of decision. For completeness, the FOS reported having c. 2,700 employees according to March 2020 figures

I cannot fathom they were acting in good faith when this happened. I can only conclude that some form of bribery or corruption was involved to get that notice removed.
The FCA doesn't give a about you, and that's the cold hard truth.

The damning report by Dame Elizabeth Gloster concerning how the FCA regulated (or rather didn't) London Capital and Finance has been published: www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55335378
Of course LCF wasn't P2P, but hopefully there'll be similar reports in the future that cover some of the failed P2P platforms.

Two hours long and I haven't listened to much, but there have been several press articles, this is a non-paywalled one
and this one paywalled but rather harder hitting.

Googling the FT headline will get past the paywall - interesting read - "Following the report, the Treasury said it would set up a compensation scheme to consider one-off payouts to former LCF investors".

Hi, Don't suppose there are enough of us damaged by P2P platforms to instigate an online petition to Rishi Sunak to bring FCA to account for not fulfilling its role to protect investors from P2P commercial or criminal negligence.Bailing us out is not quite the headline news as the BANKS in 2008 ! Reaching 100,000 signatures to ensure it gets to house of commons is probably not a reality ! What do you think ? At the moment we are divided, single voices on each defaulted loan with no teeth to get some form of justice. Suppose it will fade away just like "timeshare" investments did.

The governor of the Bank of England has angrily rejected criticism that he was slow to make changes in his previous role overseeing City regulation.
