I’ve received a letter from RateSetter saying a processing error has resulted in a overpayment which they would like me to return to them. Has anyone else received one of these letters?

SCAM alert surely.
Where did they get the list of ratesetter investors and addresses? I don't think I've had a scam letter before, might be a clever move if you're a criminal that is.
send them an email or a DM on twitter. If this was real there would prominent communication on their website and you would receive an official email.

I can't recall RS ever sending any letters, they always communicated via e-mail. I'd call or e-mail RS to confirm if it's not a scam.

You know how much you had in your account, and withdrew. You know how much you received. Was there an overpayment?

If it was a large amount they might send a letter with proof of delivery rather than an email that might get missed or sent to junk now RS are no more.

Be wary of any other unsolicited contact like a phone call trying to validate the letter and it's a criminal offence for you not to return the money, usual scam tactics. Phone Ratesetter using phone number on their website.

or if it was 1 or 2 people most companies would send a letter. HMRC, banks etc always say that Email, text, calls are not how they advise formal communication. Just call them on the number you know and trust. OR write them a letter back.

Or post about it on here, as the OP did, and give RS a chance to do the work of proving it's genuine. And give kev a chance to say it would never have happened in his day ...
