Given all the problems in the world, I'm not going to get over excited about the use of individual words.
However, I would like a ban on people who wave their hands / arms around excessively when they're talking.

I think he might be aware of a lesser-known definition of the word 'super'.

The cyclist Bradley Wiggins also moves his arms around a lot when providing expert comment on TV. Quite distracting. I felt like asking the producer to tell Brad to sit on his hands.

I am sick to the back teeth (yes I still have some) of hearing the word “Super” . Nobody can just be pleased or happy or find something easy or difficult it must be “Super “ excited etc. Just watch any live program or YouTube video and everything is “Super” . Next time you hear it make a mental note of how many times it is said. So far I’ve got 15 in a 20min video. You observations would be interesting. With the greatest respect Godanubis I am concerned that you have incipient dementia. According to the Oxford dictionary, the adjective "super" is 'informal, becoming old-fashioned', while the Cambridge dictionary likewise describes it as 'old-fashioned informal'. I had to use these dictionaries to check my own impression that the heyday of "super" as a standalone adjective was the swinging sixties. Anyone suddenly trying to eliminate this word needs to ensure they have a home-help. The twenty-first century equivalents I believe are "cool" and "awesome". To be fair, though, I believe your grumpy old brain might be registering the use of "super" as a prefix, as in the "super-excited" you cite - yes that is the new normal. Thus, the modern adjectives can be extended as "super-cool" and "super-awesome". For anyone too young to understand the word "old-fashioned" in my dictionary quotes, it means "retro". This entire thread is actually super-retro.

Will you still be supernatural, my Lord, or how should we define or describe your greatness? The word I really hate in cooking shows is 'crispy'. What's wrong with the adjective 'crisp'?

I think the “y” is supposed to make it more attractive. The “Y” is like adding “Super” . As if the adjective is insufficient in the shortened form and we must be made aware of the extra quality of whatever.
