Thick Liz still being asked her opinion
I saw a bit of this on Sky News yesterday. She said that she underestimated the publics resistance to change, whereas I suspect what she meant was that she underestimated the publics resistance to stupidity.

Seriously guys I'd defend their right to black up. Similar Morris (Moorish) Men . Its part of a tradition that is harmless and goes back centuries to a time when it was an adventure . We have Tippoos Tiger in the V an A ,or we did until the PC gang got hold of it . If you are offended , you have an agenda that is equally intolerant . Watching you all get huffy and sanctimonious on the behalf of goodness knows who and what is pretty sad. But why do they need to? i remember the black and white minstrels it was good but the blacking up was not necessary, it would have been just as good without. I see that they're ratcheting up the pressure on the landlord.
The pub should not be considered for "future awards or inclusion in our Good Beer Guide", the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) said.

Ha, ha. The Good Beer Guide of course being something of an oxymoron as it only includes beer of a certain type so excludes most good beer. Camra that gives members vouchers to Wetherspoons which has its own issues when it comes to views & treatment of people and whose beer is generally considered to not be good Camra whose membership tends to be of a certain age and more likely to be of outdated viewpoints. Presumably the local branch didnt notice the decor during any of their fairly regular visits over the years. (8 POTY awards claimed) I see tonight's AGM has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances - wonder where that was being held? Meanwhile ebay & Etsy have suddenly noticed that the dolls are offensive www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/12/online-sellers-take-down-golliwog-listings

Cruella Braverman may come to regret her comments on this 'incident'. Why on earth she didn't wait for the police investigation before shooting her mouth off is beyond me. And seriously calls into question whether she should be home secretary if she can't stop herself from commenting on a still active investigation. On the other hand it isn't beyond me. Essentially a dog whistle to her preferred wing of the party. "Oh look at me, I'm fighting the cultural wars on your behalf".

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-65031592Lol I live about 20 miles away, we all know what been going on, after all you don't move 100,000 tonnes of coal in 5 months in the back of Dai's estate car. Still whinging they don't have enough money put aside to restore the area, many round here see that as a threat, let us carry on or we will just leave a hole. Some believe the promise to make good, some of us think that once mining stops the company will rapidly move to liquidation and the remediation costs will fall on the locals Just replacing what has been removed since September 2022, 100,000 tons of material need to be infilled, at 40 tons per load 2500 lorry loads lets just multiply by 20 to replace what been remove over 15 years 50,000 lorry loads. It won't be cheap I predict if the do anything they will smooth the site ( well smoothish ) scatter a few loads of topsoil and some grass seed

A couple of days ago I was watching an episode of HIGNFY from 2022, which contained a couple of great articles:
- they were talking about the resignation of Cresida Dick as Metropolitan Police Commissioner. They showed an interview with a man who consistently referred to her as Caressed-her Dick.
- they were also talking about partygate and the chances of Boris getting the old heave-ho. Paul Merton warned that if he ended up going, we would end up with a half wit like Liz Truss in charge.

In reality a big hole in the ground in the right place is a valuable comodity, given the money to be made from a landfill sites.

So why, tightwad that I be, am I thinking of paying for an operation that I can't be sure of having in a reasonable time with the NHS? Why are my local roads full of potholes? Why is so much crime not investigated? etc etc
