ah but your basic Welsh government does not arrange for people to be poisoned on aircraft, poisoned on their doorstep, have bits of their country stolen or beaten to death in the street.
It is all to easy too start saying "politicians are all the same", they are not.

IMHO studying politics at University or wanting to be a politician should be an automatic disqualification.
And certainly at the lower levels ie district and parish councils people should not stand under party banners, it should be I'm Joe Smith and I'm anti developments of new houses in the area, I don't want wind turbines etc.

Have to address that one. In what way are they not state? Paid for out of taxes and directed by the relevant minister. Putin is absolutely not a dictator. LOL, clearly you don't understand how either the BBC is funded or controlled. Nor it seems, how Putin is elected. Apart from those two core facts......
I understand it is hard to see this stuff and feel convinced. I invested an hour a day for a year to watch RT and finally concluded it was laughable parody of openness. Invest the same.
Lets leave Mr P rabbit hole aside for the moment. Regarding the BBC, how can you explain this on their own website? www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/who_we_are/trustees/appointment.htmlBBC Trustees are appointed by the Queen on advice from DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) ministers through the Prime Minister.FIRST line of this page. Its also funded by a levy. i.e. a tax. What is controversial about that? And if you're kind enough to answer please lets try not to resort to personal attacks. Not saying you are but its getting close. Edit: Latest page is here which contains a similar sentence to the above - so the PM can directly hire and fire most of the board including Chairmen and thus the ceo. www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/whoweare/bbcboardThe Chairman and the non-executive members for the nations are appointed by HM The Queen on the recommendation of Ministers

That seems to happen whatever the stripe of the current government is. However the page you linked says, at the top, "The BBC Trust has now closed and these pages are no longer being updated". I think that the following are current:- www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/whoweare/bbcboardwww.bbc.co.uk/news/help-41670342downloads.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/assets/files/pdf/about/how_we_govern/2016/charter.pdf

Also we are not restricted to seeing the BBC news, there are any number of other TV news stations and web sites everyone can visit to get alternative slants on the news. Not to mention non-government linked newspapers, if you believe the BBC is controlled by the UK government you can easily look elsewhere.

The World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders ( rsf.org/en/ranking) is an interesting reflection of the varying degrees of state involvement in spreading propaganda / suppressing info. This year UK = 33rd out of 180, Russia 150th out of 180.

I don't see how you can leave Putin out of a "is he a dictator" discussion.
Your point about appointment..... is one company has its board appointed by a democratically elected government the other by a dictator sort of takes us back to the Putin issue.
Since Putin has organised a fraud of an election and controls the main route to information in a country where the internet can and has been isolated from the rest of the world's internet it is a bit like asking people to vote with no real option and no real information.
These situations are not equal and frankly I'm not sure why you are pushing this nonsense. Even my Russian friends would not bother with this stuff.
Have you agreed to carry out a year's research viewing say BBC news for one hour a day?

The UK has an extradition treaty with the US and during the long legal case he has been held in custody because he is quite rightly considered a flight risk.

The extradition treaty with the US is pointless it is always a one way street. It is also wrong that the met can use countless Police hours surrounding a building to detain Assange ( £13 million ), yet don't have officers free to attend to crimes. He is still in jail despite completing his sentence and we should remember he was sentenced for skipping bail for a crime that was dropped. comparing his sentence to many others it was savage by comparison and he served the whole term, unlike most who are released after between 1/3 and 1/2

Nothing personal or disrespectful of you in anything I have said.
That we disagree is a core part of the discussion, if you think I can't reject your opinions without rejecting your right to say them then we are in sorry waters.

Sorry Bobo, that is personal and disrespectful of my opinion so will leave it there for now. Wow, if you are so hypersensitive about your precious opinions being criticised, why post them on a public forum?
