I have donated. From the funding page: "The legal advice thus obtained will only be shared with those who are verified by the Creditors Committee as being genuine platform investors."
Who do I need to contact to get verified?
Do I need to also formally connect myself to the claim/ legal process to be in with a chance of avoiding the claimant from stealing my money? Or is donating to the Barrister fund and staying out of it sufficient? In the scenario where: 1. It goes to court 2. The barrister agrees to a partial settlement (unlikely as we are all out for blood and if claimant doesn't take our money the administrators will!)

I also donated a few days ago and having just checked the "funding" website see we are within a couple of hundred pounds of the target. However, one thing puzzles me a bit. Why fund a barrister at this stage rather than a solicitor. My understand of a barrister duty is that they are instructed by a solicitor, not the client, to present a legal case in court not so much determine it`s legality or merit. Am I wrong?

Seeking opinion from Counsel (ie a QC) on legal questions is normal practice. Given the fairly niche aspect of law this case represents I doubt a solicitor would be able to advise without going to Counsel so cutting out the middle man.

My understand of a barrister duty is that they are instructed by a solicitor, not the client, to present a legal case in court not so much determine it`s legality or merit. Am I wrong? The Public Access to Barristers scheme came in in 2004 and removed the need to use a Solicitor before consulting a Barrister, in most cases. In large and complicated cases a Barrister might recommend that client employs a Solicitor to mange the copious ducumentation, this being in the clients best interests.
In many areas of the law e.g. Tax Law, Barristers will spend most of their time giving written opinions and very little time on Litigation. When I was at work we regularly sought opinions from Barristers, often visiting them for a conference in their Chambers, which gave the opportunity ask further questions on the topic.

It makes me wonder if us lenders should be putting in a claim against FCA for not due their due diligence on how Funding Secure were actually working. I am reliably informed that FOIs have been submitted. There is potentially an interesting aspect to this whole saga that I cannot post on an open forum .....

The FSAG member who is dealing with the matter will put out a notice in due course. Apologies for the delay, there is a considerable amount of work happening behind the scenes.

Thank you to everyone who is working so hard on this. I have very little at stake in absolute terms (still 50% of my 'investment' outstanding!) but have made a small donation on principle. I look forward to hearing more as this progresses and hope those who have been really damaged by this get some resolution.

I see that the funding target of £3,800 has been met. It stands at £4,024 today. I hope some good comes of this.

good result - thanks to all who contributed and the organisers - I guess this will buy us a day of a Barrister's time (I am in the wrong business)
which will enable an expert opinion to be formed - my opinion of this comes free and is equally valid although sadly not in court ...

Good old section 348 appears as it has done regularly with Col.

Can anyone advise how I can get a copy of the legal advice if I am not on Facebook? Mucho P2P is probably the best person to ask. Seem to be working their way through matching & verifying contributors at the moment on FB.

Can anyone advise how I can get a copy of the legal advice if I am not on Facebook? The legal advice is only available to bona fide contributors who are lenders. If you wish to contribute, DM me on this platform with your FS registered name and email address and I will send you the GoFundMe link. After your donation is received, you will then be placed on the email list to receive the advice.
