Yes, reminds me of an expression involving the words 'short' and 'curlies'.

The promised quarterly update is already late , previous one was 25jan2023. Maybe Dubai still uses the Julian calendar.

Dubai is a small town - with a lot of Brits. I hope he doesn't think he can escape that easily!

Tumbleweed blowing down the street of a deserted town called Ablrate.
There are no good answers or outcomes when investors are treated with contempt and arrogance.
It's just a case of when the deceit started, how deep it is and what is the damage.

The lucky shareholders in Ablrate have had an update from DBW. He appears a rather optimistic about future recoveries from the loan book which currently has £22 million outstanding. Certainly, a great deal more optimistic than I am. I think we will be lucky to see any return from the vast majority of the defaulted loans.
Really, the only good news for Shareholders is that they may be able to claim the net loss on the shares, against Income Tax, because the shares were purchased under the SEIS/EIS scheme.

Administration or orderly wind down, what works out 'better' (I'm using that word loosely, least worst outcome might be more appropriate) in the end is anyone's guess tbh. And as far as us lenders are concerned, the choice between the two is illusory. There's no choice and no visibility beyond the platitudes fed to us by the owners sitting in Dubai/IoM/other offshore haven. Soon as new lending stops, the longer things drag on, the more costs that keep coming off of the recoveries and the less we get. How long will an orderly wind down go on for? As long as the owners want it to or the tap runs dry for the owners. Everyone still of the opinion that a behind closed doors ablrate loan rundown is better than an open doors administration ?

Interesting. Only recently he inferred to me that friendship, born as a result of their business relationship was no longer on good terms.

Well, Ablrate does seem as good as dead but I see David is living the dream on an £85.00 main course in warm and sunny Dubai.

They still seem to be on pretty friendly terms from what I see, I wonder why DBW would suggest they are not? These two are as thick as thieves I reckon.

It followed a question of good faith and conflict of interests. The number of questionable loans to companies linked to his friend. Especially as a number of these loans are in default coupled with the snippet given of the a long overdue report in to A.

I'm sure he'll have kept strict ethical-barriers / Chinese walls between his friendships and the loans he his lenders advanced to those friends' businesses.........

does it cost anything to withdraw money out of ABL now?

does it cost anything to withdraw money out of ABL now? No. With the following caveat for ISA transfers: "Transfer Outs will not incur any charges at present, however we would ask you to limit the number of Transfer Outs in any tax year, and we may need to review this in the future."

Thank you. So charges for transfer out applied to both ISA and non-ISA accounts?
