I had a fine cat, Sam, and I still miss him even though he died in 1999. Wandering around Portmeirion once we stumbled across the pet's cemetery there, and found an old gravestone with the following engraved on it - My dear dear dog gone before To that unknown and silent shore Shall we not meet as heretofore Some summer morning
The lady who composed that died in 1917, and she obviously loved that dog. To lose a pet is one of the most traumatic things that can happen to you in life. I've lost four, and I miss them all.

Thanks everyone. It is grave digging and farewell today. A letter recommending Fluffin to whoever receives her soul on the other side and a coin to pay the ferryman. You don't know what to do do you, to make the grief any less, like a stone in the chest. I know this gets better with time. The house is so much emptier without this cats cheerfulness.

Lost my passed daughters cat in the spring, 24 years old, forever a kitten in size, but big personality. Still feel empty.
