Not really into reading WW people dairies much, only got hooked into a Beeb series, "Our World War". Only recently, I found out women shared a different perspective during WWII, like this one. www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/79/a5102579.shtmlIt seems like a social media content, amazing holiday leave in the very best hotel in middle east no longer being part of the great empire. Flowers, nice meals, beautiful rooms .... what else have not been recorded?

The actual diary is a very small soft covered book densely written in small writing and quite difficult to read, I don't think you were supposed to keep a diary! I might give both save someone else a headache. There is a list of places and dates they were there and on which boats, so that might be interesting to someone. Then brief notes on what he was doing covering a few years and lists of what he bought and letters sent and received, very poignant. Keeping a diary or taking photographs was discouraged as they could be useful to the enemy if captured. My father made some notes after the war that he donated to me but I have not done anything with them.
Maybe I should...

It would be very interesting to know the names of the boats, if you feel able to share.

You should pass it down the family if they are people who can be trusted to care for it . Then it would be a personal treasure with far greater valuethan any lost in a large archive . The musket ball and medal that my Great great grandfather received at the Battle of Quatre Bras is passed on to the eldest child's family (sadly not mine). I have all my Dad's photos that he took on Operation Torch , but they are very small and insignificant . I hope my family will care for and understand them. (Also a few bits of shrapnel that just missd him). Teach your children well.
