Last time I checked the 'stuck bids' error was much more likely to afflict partially knocked out bids. Therefore anyone who bids £40 or larger parts, or who bids on 'non round number'auctions, where there is always a dwarf loan part on the edge**. FC never acknowledged this, but maybe they found and fixed it anyway? Oh look, flying blenders at angels 11. 8>.
** there is known to be some special case code for this, massaging your bid size down.

'Dwarf' is regarded as a bit un-pc. Perhaps you could say a 'loan part of limited stature'.

... they got the explanation wrong, and assured me that it was a very rare event. Perhaps people should be telling FC, so they realise the full prevalence. My recent one has been corrected -- explanation was initially that "two people bought the loan part at the same time" -- although it was actually two different days. Explanation changed to "it can also happen when the site is active". "Active" being a euphemism for "heaving under the strain".

'Dwarf' is regarded as a bit un-pc. Perhaps you could say a 'loan part of limited stature'. I thought it might be 'orphan' loan part ... but I guess 'dwarforphan' is doubly un-pc.

Updated my vote as Flaky Calculations have mislaid one of the loan parts I bought today.
I have had a total of 4 double charge errors since I started building my FC portfolio 6 weeks ago, which is an error rate of 0.8% as I have 530 loan parts in my portfolio. Luckily all the errors were on £20 loan parts, so that is 0.4% of my portfolio by value.

A double charge error (primary market?) is not the same as a double sale error on the SM. I wonder if whole loan purchasers are ever charged twice for a loan? As well as today, they did it to me the other day, too - but it was corrected quickly after an email to support. I did like the way they sort-of gently hinted it was my fault for trying to buy a part that somebody else had bought at the same time. Silly me.

Previously we have heard of double sales of a part being attributed to a race between two competing purchasers - even if it takes a time to be completed. Being charged twice, and presumably the seller being paid twice, for a transaction with no third party, is new to me. The fact that it has happened three times to you in a short period would explain why the nature and frequency has increased.

I agree that the failure to buy a loan part was not caused by someone else successfully buying it. When I reported being charged twice for the same loan part FC said it was a known problem when the system gets busy. This is the most relevant part of their explanation:
"I have looked into your account and can agree that your account did not reconcile by £40 and this was due to a problem known as a 'double sale'. Thank you for providing the loan ID number.
Unfortunately there are occasions where the first attempt to purchase a loan part is unsuccessful, though the investor is charged for the purchase.
When you successfully purchased the loan part on the second attempt, you were charged again. This means that you had effectively paid twice for the same loan part."

Yet another error.
Yesterday 9294 repaid early. The loan value was deducted from the amount on loan, and the repayment + interest shows on the statement, but never made it into my account, so the balance dropped by £39 as a result. No doubt a button forgot to be pressed. Those nice excuse mongers at Customer Services are being made aware.
