I see the railway guy's back again. Thats £83k now. Love to know what he's doing with all the cash ... is he building his own railway - HSmini... a museum or perhaps just an extension to keep it all in once he gets it all back.

When I saw the listing, I thought that looked good for vintage railway stock. Then I saw it was just toy trains! Not for me.

Do lenders (generally) trust FS's valuation of jewellery, such as tomorrow's £5780on which £4K is being lent? (69.2%LTV). Yes, but ... FS are using a small fairly obscure auction house for most disposals, and in most auctions only around half the lots achieve a sale. Something is only worth x if thereis someone who willing to buy it on the day of the auction. FS seem to have some private buyers as a fall back, so the worst case on jewellrey so far has been the return of capital but zero interest if I remember correctly. I've seen nothing to suggest the jewellery items are being routinely mis-valued to the extent that most if not all the paintings and some of the cars have been.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

Railways; the signs worry me, in too good a condition for veracity which might limit my investment. Rollingstock looks ok so may go with this, with so much money washing around in the "crazy-old-train-fool" market at the moment I think these would sell well.
Jewelry; there are two LTVs. The retail LTV and the scrap LTV. Margins on this sort of clobber are 60 to 80% so there is a big difference between the two. I shy away from retail LTVs of greater than 70% and prefer 50%. There are insufficient details on the FS page to calculate the scrap LTV, which is a pity. Gold isn't going anywhere in the next 6 months (crosses fingers).

Oh yes. Didnt even notice, was expecting a loan at 1pm so invested in the one that appeared whilst in the middle of doing something else. Only realised when FS sent email. Fortunately the other loan wasnt full so got my piece of that as well. (Was planning on doing both)

Seeing the spelling error on the Malaya Garnet certification card made me wonder .... but FS will have checked out the authenticity of the card ... wouldn't they?

Currently a loan which has not filled in over 4 mins on offer... *faints with surprise* That's down to: a) the bid limit being set so low (0.6% !) b) it being yet more model trains My £50 will be hitting the SM at 2% premium just as soon as the loan completes (along with plenty of others I should imagine).
