The scary things is I will probably the UK population swell to 100m, and most of that will be in southern england. That's fine if we are prepared to double the housing stock, road network, national grid, etc etc. About time the politicians were honest about the realities.

"the posturing by the puffed up tiny intellects which govern us" Reality check, they're simply not people with tiny intellects; in the main they're people with first class oxbridge degrees. ie cleverer than practically everybody. With little or no real-world experience......

Mods: Can this be moved from a RateSetter thread into the political ranting section?

Back on track
A ratesetter isa would be nice, as would a TC isa, sorry pardon AC as well of course and and . Diversification says we need an ISA which can hold different p2p investments. Is there any sign?

Is there any sign? HMT is feeding back from the consultative process in "the summer", so until then there'll be no news. Although I have heard the "Equity Crowd lending" platforms have been lobbying hard to also be included, so that'll be interesting. @ westonkevRS

The equity platforms were mentioned in the budget. See below. I don't see the attraction myself. Most of these equities don't pay dividends and otherwise the EIS seems to be better than an ISA. From a post by pikestaff. Is it possible to add a post into a different thread? In the budget "red book" www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/413949/47881_Budget_2015_Web_Accessible.pdf1.226 Following technical consultation with the financial services industry, the government will extend the range of ISA eligible investments in 2015-16 to include listed bonds issued by a co-operative society and community benefit society and SME securities issued by companies trading on a recognised stock exchange. The government will also explore further extending the list to include debt and equity securities offered via crowd funding platforms, and will consult in summer 2015 alongside a response to the consultation on how to include peer-to-peer loans."

The ability to put P2P lending in a LISA will still be an important milestone and recognition, however technically it's becoming less important with both the £1,000 savings allowance and now SIPPs: RateSetter has become the first consumer Peer-to-Peer platform to be available via a SIPP: www.financialreporter.co.uk/retirement/ratesetter-launches-first-p2p-sipp-option.html?" Launching into the retirement savings market with two self-invested pension providers – London & Colonial and European Pensions Management, enabling SIPP holders to lend within their pension" That said, my allowance is only £500, this doesn't go far when returns are 5-6%, and I don't have a SIPP. So personally I'm still looking forward to a LISA if I can diversify away from my gambling habit known as equities. @ westonkevRS.

RateSetter has become the first consumer Peer-to-Peer platform to be available via a SIPP: Oh naughty, TC have had a SIPP for some time now (not a consumer p2p, but that difference is a bit slick for my taste)
