Seldom do I feel so uncertain as to the value of a domain name...... Anyone got any views? A bit like personalised number plates, they're worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for them. My concern is how few people might be interested in that one (I can think of only a couple of possible applications) so I'm going to pass.

I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole.
the .co.uk equivalent is in use, and there is a VERY strong case to be had against anyone utilising the .com of cyber-squatting, and hence to a UK owner the .com is probably worth at best a few £k as a token payoff from the .co.uk owners.
B*** Street in New York City is a short street in Lower Manhatten, nothing special.
Unless anyone can think of any other B*** Streets in the US that would value the .com I consider it essentially worthless.

How are you seeing the details of 'upcoming loans' ?? I thought details were only available once it went to 'needing investment'.

How are you seeing the details of 'upcoming loans' ?? I thought details were only available once it went to 'needing investment'. Info on emails & repeated on FS posts in new loans thread. Fairly basic but gives a start on duedil. Dont think any way of getting any more

With the freeing up of domain suffixes, I cant believe that any .com suffix will be worth much in the future.
This is definitely an 'I'm out' offer for me.

Domain name value is one thing.
But in the past I have found to my cost that having proof of ownership is useless, as Nominet are only interested in the name in which it is registered, whether that person/company has proof of ownership or not.

I'll pass on this one, the typical value from a few appraisal sites I tried was in the region of $10k-$20k, I understand the limitations those sites have but I am surprised that the lowest quote FS got for it was £25k.
Also, and I think what biggles was pointing out, I don't see how FS can truly be 'In Possession' of this 'item', it would be all to easy for the borrower to continue to use the domain, and even sell or transfer it, without any authorisation from FS.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one though to see what happens with it, very interesting but too risky for me.

Just to help clarify. The ownership of the domain has been transferred to FundingSecure - we own the domain. It is registered in our name through our registrar with verisgn - the top level controlling organisation for all .com domains.
Only we can sell it, which we would of course not do unless the loan defaulted.
We have full control of the domain, allowing the borrower to continue to set up a web site and receive mail.
