I'm thinking of using the mobile app (on iPhone) but the few reviews of it in the app store are very uncomplimentary. Anyone got any experience of it? Will it stay logged in? Is bidding smooth and fast? Are the notification settings any good? etc

I use it but only to keep an eye out for new listings that will disappear quickly (Es !) when I'm out and about. Bidding is OK but slow (perhaps 1 bid every 3 or 4 secs) and frustrating in that it doesn't remember your selected part size or last bid rate if you navigate away and then return. It stays logged in OK but the "Notifications" function simply doesn't work (or at least I've never received one!). It gives you no access at all to the SM, just the PM.

It stays logged in ok. You can see your bids, your owned parts, loan requests (primary market only), your watchlist and can transfer in funds (I've not done this but assume it works).
It shows most of the info for these sections that you see on a desktop, however it doesn't show the loan ID which I find rather annoying.
The main use I have for it is if I want to keep track of an auction I'm interested in but won't be at a computer near the deadline (I expect this might be particularly useful if you can't log on while at work, although I can normally so it's no a big deal for me), and also just for note-keeping purposes when you buy a loan part it shows the actual part rate which I don't believe you can see anywhere on a computer.
It's free so might as well have a look at it yourself.

I use it too, and it does stay logged in. Frustratingly, it doesn't show where your bids lie in comparison with others at the same rate, which is a pain for the last minute bidding. Having said that, when the website was lagging badly during the last seconds of 14814 today, I was able to bid using the mobile app instead with no problems at all.

Thanks for all the info, people. I’ll try the app as soon as I am back within range of a mobile signal. //rant-begins// So here I am in a Cornish cottage in a village with a very large summer population but with no mobile signal. I am reminded of the many ways in which the telcos esp BT are allowed to shaft us: 1 There are still large areas which are far from unpopulated but which have no mobile signal. The TCs are allowed to cherry pick. 2 The only way for me to get the internet down here is to piggy back on someone else’s BT wifi router using the BT Fon service. 3 BT Fon has an excruciating website. Perhaps deliberately, they have a confusing array of prices, some PAYG and some voucher-based. The website will sometimes tell you about only some of those prices. 4 The most extortionate prices include: £5/hour, £10/day, £25/5 days, £39/30 days. 5 BT and its pet the government loves to tell us that since privatisation there is competition. 6 Ofcom has no bite and is run by a crony of the PM in the interests of business not consumers. //rant-ends//

Break? This silver surfer is staying near the surfing beach at Polzeath but prefers to ‘catch the break’ by sofa-service.

Which part of being in Cornwall didn't you understand? They have a place called "Land's End", say no more.

Maybe it's a message to enjoy your break?

I'd be complaining to the holiday cottage firm that the property they advertised as having fast broadband included turned out not to have any...

I reported a couple faults with the APP and the team have fixed one by telling me to clear my cache (I now know how to clear my cache on a phone), however I still cannot see the "recent loan comments" box at the bottom of the Summary page. Off to Dorset next week, where WIFI will be very limited too. , while Bordeaux and Rioja fill me with dread, may have to take a holiday on my holiday.

It's sad isn't it .. I used to pick holiday spots with 'had it got a toilet and shower', then it was 'does it have electricity', then 'how about safe off-road parking', and now it's "can I get a wifi signal?" How civilization has moved on.

Much of Dorset is happily now blessed with FTTC fibre broadband (including my bit of Purbeck, as of a few weeks ago) which has boosted many of the local WiFi offerings too.
