You have managed to elevate a comment that was so trivial that you didn't bother to moderate it into a position where you are challenging a member to leave.
Elijay, I suggest that it is your attitude that is not in keeping with the spirit of this board and you should consider your position.

Ah now what am I to do? 24 mins after posting I have one supportive PM from a board member with whom I've had no prior contact, thanking me for taking a stand against censorship, and another from a mod for whom I have the deepest respect asking me to defuse the situation and apply some self censorship in relation to the above post.
Elijay, I acknowledge and am very grateful fr your key role in setting up this board. Our styles are clearly different and while I do not agree that I deserved a warning, I accept your point about the need for politeness.

As MRC noted in earlier post, the use of the %age system was the only mechanism we thought was available for keeping track, in the expectation that we would need to keep track. Concerns have been raised in this thread about the potential for giving the appearance of some 'secretive' system. With my mod hat on, I have noted those concerns/views and think the mod team should discuss the mechanics of the system again.

captainconfident, thank you for your understanding. To give a bit of background I've had messages from people in the past (not on this forum) who have said that they felt they couldn't post because the tone of that forum was too personal - threads were allowed to descend into people attacking each other rather than discussing the issue. I'm not suggesting we're anywhere near that, but as a moderator of a young forum I'm trying to draw the line between being able to have a bit of fun along the way and people feeling they can't discuss P2P issues because they believe things will become personal. If the forum allows one person to make personal comments about another in public without comment then we're effectively giving permission for everyone to do so, so as a moderator I had to step in.
