j1 - that's my dream. I want to own a bookshop where I don't care about silly things like "profit" and "turnover". Just a nice little shop with lots of books and maybe a bottle of Chablis on chill in the corner. Slowly bankrupt myself whilst I read to my heart's desire! That's kind of where I am at now, albeit without the shop, with a healthy dose of computer games and the internet, and a bottle of rioja instead of the chablis . My mom was head of copyright at a major publisher for most of my childhood, she'd come home with box after box full of random books and let me take my pick. It's a habit that stuck .

Awesome job! We have a discount book shop down the road as well as a Waterstones and WHSmith and I ALWAYS end up in the discount shop as it has a much more eclectic collection (and an employee who has the same weird tastes as me!)

Reminds me of the famous American sign:
"This is a non-profit organization. It wasn't intended to be, but that's the way it is."

Approaching the end of my 26th year and working as a peon for a large financial services firm. A family to support; no house of our own; and no realistic prospect of getting one. If anyone has any better offers of employment (or charity ) I will gladly receive them....

I'm interested that having had 25 respondents, no one is working part-time. I'm still working full time but at present I have P2P and VCT investments that with just 27% of my total invested money are projected to return my whole minimum income need for the next twelve months. That gives me considerable flexibility to take investment risk or to just retire if I just want to stop work. I'd like to turn my hand to part-time working doing something I enjoy and get a little of the work-life balance that has been elusive all my working life. What I did around thirteen years ago was full time volunteering for a place. I stopped when I ran out of savings, got the job I have now and started out committed to never be in that position again, becoming financially independent rapidly. Ten years after stopping I've accumulated around 85% of my combined net pay and gross pension combinations over the whole ten year and could stop working at any time if I wanted to, though I've since change my objective to include living anywhere in the world that I want to live as well and haven't yet met that objective.

Just looking through the poll results, and am disappointing there's no category for single woman looking for a P2P sugar daddy.
