In that case, for us laggard desktop PC users, could we also have a "List View without Thumbnail Pictures" display option (also remembered for future log-ins) that reduces the height of each loan row so as to maximise the number of loans visible without scrolling?

Auto-deposits have been removed from the sites functionality, you can make any size investment you wish, this will result in a negative balance that you are expected to either transfer funds to resolve, or sell loan parts to resolve. Have you removed the reminder emails for BACs deficit already? (I have been in deficit for some time now and no reminder emails)

2-stage verification security via SMS is only be able to be activated by investors with a mobile. With regard to this, I take this to mean you don't have to use it, hope that's correct? Also, the system appears to accept non- uk mobiles is this the case? Once it has been set, can it be re-set to a different mobile number or completely de-activated? Loans with availability are listed on the site 'investments' page publicly available prior to login. You can buy an available part at this stage and then complete the transaction by logging in. Is the loan part reserved to you at this stage or could someone else purchase it whilst you are logging in? In other words is there any difference between buying available parts from a logged in or non- logged in position?

Investor Activity - Don't know if this has already been covered but - The list of recent Investor Activity associated with each loan now only shows the last 10 transactions rather than the last 15 as at present. Further - it shows both loan sales as well as purchases but doesn't indicate which is which. I like the idea that it shows sales but I'd like to see it indicated which are sales and which are purchases, and I'd like to see a longer activity history not a shorter one.

ianj, have you looked at it with the List view toggled (rather than the somewhat pointless tiles)? Thanks for the heads-up. You may have noted a reference in my previous post to ABP blocking the photos on the current system. It doesn't block the photos on the Beta system, but, after 10mins of head scratching and cursing, I've discovered that it blocks the toggle. ?? You're guess is as good as mine. Yes, I have to agree, tiles are as you describe for anyone with reasonable eyesight. The list view is better, but far from good. At 67% resolution I estimate I will fit 13/14 loans to a screen, still a retrograde step from the 32 currently achievable, and due to the poor font definition and colour (poor contrast with the background - grey on grey not a good idea surely), I have to lean towards the screen to be sure of seeing the detail clearly. And before anybody thinks the obvious, I don't have to lean close to the screen while typing this with a smaller font! Personally I don't understand how anyone can say the new display matches the current as in the attachment below - both at 67% resolution. Even without enlarging the above it's clear that text in the current display (right) has better definition, despite the font size being smaller! If I could block/lose the photos, the font definition was crisper, and the contrast was improved I would be much happier. As for Recent Updates..... I never got further than amo, amas, amat. Any classics scholars out there?

2-stage verification security via SMS is only be able to be activated by investors with a mobile. We will adjust loan ID titles back to PBL*** rather than PBL**. How is the use of a mobile to be detected? If it is from the browser or device used to access the site using all the unseen guff that is also sent/received, then I suspect you will believe I use a mobile device as the security I use stops a whole host of the unseen guff unless I specifically allow it. If you then send me a text to my contact number, I may well get one of those silly calls where a strangely modulated voice tries to pronounce interesting names like "Penistone" or "Scunthorpe" to great hilarity from the kids. As for the ID's, years of experience has taught me that you will ALWAYS get bitten by a structured code. Just give them a number and add the relevant data in another field if you really do need to highlight the nature of the security beyond the documents. As for the rest, I looked, recognised that mobile devices are the latest "must do" for the designer and sighed. Respect. For putting the Beta up and asking.

I haven't yet looked at the beta site (will do so!) - but you should be aware when some banks changed their internet banking systems to require the use of mobiles/SMS for certain actions - they quickly found that a number of their customers didn't have mobiles and/or (shock) mobile coverage... Regards Sunil Unless it allows for non- UK mobile numbers, that will apply to me for significant portions of the year. Coverage is also a frequent problem when I'm not in the UK sometimes too, and I know several people in various parts of the UK even in London where coverage in their homes is very problematic. Hope there is an alternative? Sorry. I don't use a mobile phone. So any action demanding that I have a mobile will force me to leave SS

If you mean tablets as well then a lot of them (including mine) have no facilities to receive text messages - of course if this is just optional then no problem

I'm using an Android mobile. How do I change to the "List View" on the loans pages? I can do it on the laptop but the 3 bars at top right aren't visible on my 'phone.

Local Beta Testing
I live locally to your new home in Gatcombe Park, Portsmouth.
Would it be any help for a real punter with some IT systems development experience to come in and face your developers?

savingstream: I know this has been discussed above, but to add my 2 pen'th - Now that there is the tile view in which the pretty pictures of the loan sites can be displayed to attract new investors in, can we do away with the pictures altogether on the list view to enable the maximum amount of information to be displayed on one screen view?

I seriously hope SS aren't paying anyone to develop this excuse for a new website, if so they're being ripped off. Seems to me change for the sake of change - or perhaps its somebody in the office with nothing better to do I think in future SS would do well to adopt a more "agile" approach, and make smaller incremental improvements, in manageable chunks. For example, most users were very happy with the system, so SS could have introduced changes in small upgrades: 1. Change from BACS deficit to negative balances Release this change, fix any bugs that have slipped in, or respond to feedabck. Then move on to
2. Change Live Loans list to display Available amount in money rather than as a percentage. Show the lenders current investment in pounds, and if it can be fitted on the screen, what percentage of their portfolio is in this loan.
3. Refresh the website look with latest fashion in colours, graphics and styles (if you must).
Making changes in stages means steadier progress, and enables SS to be better guided by lender feedback.

I would too if I didn't live at the other end of the country (postgrad HCI and Systems Design quals, plus 15 years in the business, albeit mostly legacy systems.) SS have the right attitude and IT-skilled loyal customer base to help make their new interface the best on the market. They should be in no hurry to release it until it is....

SS, Do you really intend non logged-in users to have access to all the pdf documentation of the loans? I thought this was restricted/protected information.
