So now a google catpcha is in place, how on earth are people clicking Im not a robot then choosing images to verify themselves so quickly? I've not had a bad day. Things are certintly better than when BOTGATE was in full flow Today I got..... 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179109 PBL018 - £49.39 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179107 PBL006 - £50.61 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179104 PBL072 - £5.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179101 PBL070 - £6.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179095 PBL072 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179087 PBL060 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179084 PBL054 - £30.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179081 PBL048 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179070 PBL028 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179069 PBL056 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179065 PBL025 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179064 PBL018 - £50.00 15/01/2016 Loan part fund 179060 PBL071 - £21.00 Almost all of the above required selecting pictures, and the ones with the street signs drove me nuts! Strange day actually as there was about a 15min period where there was a constant stream of £50 investments coming onto the SM

I tried for most of those -- and a few more -- and was unsuccessful. By the time I 'solved' the picture puzzle, which I had to do every time, the amount available had dropped to zero. My dismal success rate was not helped by the fact that, on most occasions, one puzzle wasn't enough to satisfy Google and I was presented with a second set of pictures to choose from. There's no chance of being successful in that situation.

I also (specifically those stupid street signs!) had to take two attempts in some cases. However in that period I did get an about 5 investments. I think most people are getting the pictures, so you’re not alone. You just need to be a tad faster and luckier!

Hi may be silly question but why do people buy 1 pence loan parts Look after the pennies & the pounds will look after themselves? Somethings better than nothing and they at least get to practice their 'defeat the evil captcha' skills? The enormous sense of achievement & confidence that actually managing to buy anything brings? Who knows!

Hi may be silly question but why do people buy 1 pence loan parts No, it's a sensible question (an even more sensible one is 'why do SS let people sell them in the first place') .. the only halfway sensible answer ever offered up, afaik, is 'as a marker to remind me I want some of this loan if it ever shows up'. Previous answer (now defunct) was 'to test their robot buyer' (but I tested mine with round pounds .. and only twice at that). I guess other offers might be 'to practise captcha' (but you can do that for free), or 'to tidy up the market so the stupid screen doesn't keep refreshing with just the 1p part'.

You only tested twice because you had good code.

Actually, the best reason I've seen so far was "as a marker so I know I don't want some of this loan".

That's what I meant to say, but left out the 'don't' . Doh! Just as well the code worked better than the forum replies. 8>. Can't be enough people doing that to account for the many 1p parts seen flying around though. SS really ought to have stopped it, except now is a bit late!

Can't be enough people doing that to account for the many 1p parts seen flying around though. SS really ought to have stopped it, except now is a bit late! I think SS could do something about it if they wanted to. It might not be easy to implement, but they could allow sales of 1p parts but not purchases, and not allow shrapnel to be created by selling tiny amounts of larger parts. Anyone wanting to sell their shrapnel could put it up for sale but it wouldn't be bought until other sellers put up either a reasonable-sized part or enough shrapnel to be consolidated into a reasonable-sized part. Even if reasonable-sized were as small as £1, it would get rid of a lot of micro-transactions. Of course, if SS's systems can deal with all the shrapnel without getting bogged down, they may not see this as a 'problem' needing fixing.

Since all loans add up to round figures, possibly SS can clear everyone's small change in all loans, updating available funds as appropriate and then put the aggregate on the SM.
If SS gives notice of this, let us say a month in advance so that if anyone would like to do alternate arrangements they can, then I do not see why anyone should complain.
The same reasoning can be applied if SS decides to round figures to £10. I do not think I would be happy with larger figures myself.
