I am still in negative balance and have not transferred yet - not to abuse, just have not made up my mind if I should sell some loans to balance or transfer more. My p2p investment in SS is already a very large percentage of my p2p. I'll make up my mind today. You should really try to clear it the same day. They should deduct you the interest you have earned whilst not clearing the negative balance. Done it now.

I didn't manage to send my funds until after 6pm yesterday so was very surprised to see them credited this morning! Snap, sent mine at 6.15pm, and was very surprised to wake up this morning and see I had been credited already

Your payment should arrive with SS today and they will run their reconciliation tomorrow. The payment won't go straight into your account, SS has to put it there.

And having had £3.5M of PBL073 put into investors' accounts since late Friday afternoon, there should be that much money deposited in SS's account by now to cover those purchases. SS have a bit of reconciling to do!

I still don't understand why online banking seems to shut down for the weekend.

I made a deposit with MT on Sunday (ie a 'non banking' day) ... and it was acknowledged within the hour and the funds made available for my immediate use. (Note: I really do like SS so this comparison with MT is in no way meant to be negative but more in the spirit of a helpful 'can do better' tip for SS).

I reckon MoneyThing Ed's now trained some of the chickens to do it at the weekend

Be careful what you ask for - If SS were ever able to offer instant reconciliation then they'd no longer have any need to allow us to buy now/pay later.

I still don't understand why online banking seems to shut down for the weekend. I think it depends on which bank. I have one current account that transfers on the next working day but two others that transfer almost instantaneously at any time of day/night and at weekends.

I have one current account that transfers on the next working day but two others that transfer almost instantaneously at any time of day/night and at weekends. It's more than just that - most of the UK banking system is based on really old systems - they can add stuff like internet banking and FPS on top and if they add enough new tech can bypass some of the old (whihc is why we now have the weird scenario where FPS is usually faster than CHAPS), but at the end of the day a LOT of it is all reliant on overnight batch jobs to reconcile all the days transactions. And at weekends they run different stuff, or do maintenance or.... To be honest if our banking system every went truly 24x7 I'd be scared
