how early do you class as very early retirement?
Without giving too much away in my case, the generally accepted implication of "very early retirement" is before private pension age (i.e. < 55 )
or indeed earlier still :-)

Mind you, the child bride hit 60 at the same time, and I just happened to have organised a private pension for her, some years before.
