And if he hadn't, we would still be where we were before. He was not part of the problem. Too many people (not he) denied there was a problem. He openly decided to prove there was a problem. When still nothing was done, he threatened to give everyone the facility so that no-one was at such a disadvantage. Presumably that would have inundated the SS website so they had to address the problem. End of problem ... for now. So we should praise him for his philanthropic efforts then. Conveniently forgetting that he never gave ANYONE else his bot. Managed to procure a number of loan parts with his bot and also is in the habit of using bots on other sites. Not sure he has offered similar services on that site that he claims to offer on SS. Call me an old cynic......

However I do not expect that everyone has to give away their knowledge and skills for free. There are people who share their code as open source but they do it because they decided to not because they have to.

Agreed. Now that the bots have been castrated, I'd appreciate anyone sending me some source code for their bot purely for research purposes. I have a coding background and it is always interesting to see how people approached the problem.

I'm with GSV3MIaC on this. Maybe his threat to give everyone the facility was what eventually made SS get off their a***s/head out of the sand etc. Actually I think just the public demonstration of the existence of the problem (which has been going on 'quietly' since before Xmas - maybe longer) was enough to cause them to take some appropriate action. I congratulate them on their response .. makes Fairly Complacent look like chumps, by comparison, since they could have implemented similar 2 years ago, and maybe avoided the fixed rate meltdown.
