Agreed - at least they are trying to deal with the problem! I doubt it's anywhere near as easy to implement as it seems to the non bot-savvy. For SS, it is very easy. They just reuse Google's recaptcha API. www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/index.htmlThis is the end for the bots.

The end for bots
For those asking why BOTS can't just tick the box; this is Google's recaptcha API BTW, impossible for bots to bypass.
I just tested by trying to by on the SM myself and got £100 on the first try.
Well done SS for listening!
NOW EVERYONE STOP WITH THE BOTS - THEY'VE GONE!

wow - it actually isn't just a tick box. You tick the box then have to choose pictures, in my case several pictures which the question asks.
Took me a while to spot "all the swimming pools" from the 12 pictures.
Definitely looks bot proof. By the time I works out all the swimming pools instead of lakes and ponds I missed the investment.
I will have to get use to it......

Would someone like to start a few new threads about tick-boxes and the difficulty of ticking them? - otherwise there's going to be nothing to read on here. I suppose we could have a 'Nostalgia' thread about what it used to be like when the SM was ruled by bots.

Seems to work! I just made a small test purchase - bit like being on a quiz show - and not exactly quickly either! Maybe a bit of a PITA but if that's what it takes to stand an equal chance then I'm all for it. Well Done savingstream ! Will chuck the shrapnel back in a minute..........

Amazing system. It must be happy that I'm human as I've bought a couple of bits without even having to complete a visual test (just ticking the box). Game over for the bots and well done savingstream

I just got past the tick a couple of times but found the quiz images quite difficult, not knowing how many images make up the right answer, and the pictures aren't all that clear. I don't evn know if the answers were right, but I was too slow anyway.

I will have to get use to it...... You won't always get pictures to pick. I've just made 3 (successful!) purchases and all I have to do is to tick the box. The “pick the correct pictures” are there if google suspect you are a BOT, and the results should be stored in your cache so that google is less likely to ask you to pick the correct pictures again in the future If you have ADBLOCK or GHOASTERY; they may need to be disabled for the SS website, or you may be continually asked the “pick the correct pictures” question.

So now all we have to do is wait and see if the number of people complaining about captchas is more or less than the number complaining about bots. Weve now gone from FFF, to FBF, to FEF + FFF

Well it has certainly bamboozled the bots (for a while anyway). I'm actually seeing loan parts being put up for sale. In recent days, most loan parts had gone before the page had a chance to refresh.
Yes the captcha system is a PITA, but it's a PITA for everyone, which is only fair.
