SS say on the site:

LIVE LOAN BOOK

PROVISION FUND BALANCE
£1,223,000
I can see the Live Loan figure but do not understand the Security Held figure. The total of the Asset Value on the live loans page is only £129,597,500 and not all of that is on a 1st charge. What am I missing?

I don't think this part of the website is updated automatically; just updated manually. Maybe these numbers where right, you know…… once upon a time! BTW; where have you got the £129,597,500 asset value; mine reads £130,247,500?

Looking at the Live Loans list now, I see a total value of £130,247,500. (Perhaps webwiz looked at a time when there was a part of PBL071 or PBL056 for sale on the SM, though I don't think I'll ever understand why SS have decided that an Available Loan isn't a Live Loan.) The difference between £187,457,501 and £130,247,500 is £57,210,001, which is suspiciously close to the £57,210,000 shown in the pipeline. |

I think Mike has cracked it - but where has the £1 gone?
The live loan total asset value went down £650000 between posts. PBL071 has disappeared.
Edit sorry went up not down because PBL071 has appeared.

The website has been set up so that a loan is either on the Live list or the Available list -- not both. So the total of the Live list will go down every time a part is offered for sale on the SM for a loan that doesn't already have a part for sale, and the total will go up every time the last available part for sale for a given loan is bought. IMHO, that's an unreasonable definition of a 'Live' loan, but that's what SS have decided to do.

And is it reasonable to include the pipeline in assets? Or is it possible that these are indeed Lendy assets which they have not yet released to us?

I vote with the 'unreasonable' too .. I'd expected that 'live loans' would cover everything, of which a subset (typically zero) would be 'available' .. how a loan can be 'available', but simultaneously 'dead', (or is it just 'de-animated'?) baffles me.

I think the "live" "available" split is going to be even more of an ungainly nuisance if/when there comes a time where there are a lot of SM loan parts that don't disappear for several hours or days.
