Thanks. So basically what you are saying is I need to be on my toes - and fingers! Yes; very bloody quick ! However, the SM does have its times when it is easier to invest in, such as such as just after midnight and a couple of hours following midnight (people getting that last days interest before selling) Furthermore, when a new loan goes live the SM can become a little less liquid and if it is a particularly large loan the SM can become quite static for a bit. For now, the best thing to do as a new investor is to invest your money through the PM via pre-funding, and try your luck on SM.

New to SS and not really understanding whats going on. I setup £2000 in a Pipeline loan, which was at stage 2 a few weeks ago, and nothing appears to have happened. Talk here of the SM (secondary market?) but I cannot find any sign of it on the site, maybe I am blind. Cannot see any interest details for any loans, maybe still blind.

The pipeline can sit at stage 2 for days, weeks, or months (and then like busses, two or three come along at once). The SM can be found under 'available' loans, but right now there usually are none. As someone said, just after midnight is good, since SS pay interest at midnight (so you get an extra £0.0xp by hanging on and selling just after .. personally ICBA, but there are annoyingly many people who do).

Just to add to what GSV3MIaC said above; you will get 24hrs notification of a pipeline loan going live; it's best to decide as and when those e-mails come through how much you would like to allocate (if anything) by doing some good DD . Not all pipeline loans go live, even when they are at stage 2. For me, I have set all the pre-funding to ZERO, and only change that when I get the "Going Live" e-mail.

It depends on how much you hang on your email I guess. Since I decline to carry mine about everywhere, I set my prefund at something I can live with (not zero) and adjust it when I get the go-live email (assuming I see it in time). Sometimes up, sometimes down.
As a newbie, you also need to understand how prefunding works (up to £1m loan everyone will get the same, unless they want less, so you're most unlikely to get £2k. Over £1m, requests get pro-rata filled, so you might get less than £2k on a smallish or unpopular loan .. on a large one, you might get the whole £2k. Deliberate overbidding ('gaming the system') is rather rife on occasions.).

What happened to Big Al? He did good DD too. Al .. Shmall.... edit... i think he might have * retired (*been) His DD was very good, and he chipped in recently with some good posts on my own DD threads and hope he does the same again in the future. I understand that some saw those initial posts from bigal as suspicious, but there is no truth behind those suspicions. Any insinuation that I have have done anything malicious with the user bigal since my return is unfounded... Hang on, because there is a noise coming from my basement...

You are saying I would be unlikely to get my £2k so you are assuming there must be more than 500 people applying, it sounds an awful lot, and even if it was 1000 people, I would still get £1k. Have just read a email from SS dated Aug 2015 and it seems clearer. The differentiation is not made on whether the loan is over or under 1M but whether it is over or under funded by pipeline investors. If under funded then everyone gets their request, if over funded then it goes pro-rota (or something similar).

If under funded then everyone gets their request, if over funded then it goes pro-rota (or something similar). The last loan that went live had over 1800 investors. On a 1m loan, if 1800 people wanted to invest in that 1m loan they would get £555 each, unless they asked for less. The e-mail you refer to I do not know, but the rules are that if the loan is less than 1m, then everybody gets an equal share (regardless of their preferred allocation, unless it is less), if it is over 1m then everybody gets a % of their allocation.
