savingstream Let's go! We all want to get back to our families! Yes, about time...... Not unusual for them to wait until the next day I'm afraid . We'll see ...

well about to board a plane abroad...so if it happens SS will have to wait a week for money..... moist: You could always send in a few hundred pounds in advance, or sell a few hundred pounds of parts you already own now so as to avoid getting a black mark on your record for failing to clear your negative balance within the specified period. After all, the allocations on these loans aren't going to be very big -- I'd guess about £200 for DFL001 and £120 for DFL002. (If your pre-funding is less than those amounts, you can be pretty sure you'll get all you asked for.)

Are you going somewhere with no internet?

savingstream Let's go! We all want to get back to our families! Neglect your family no more; you have until s.o.b. Monday to settle what will be a very small balance (Mike thoughtfully adds some family friendly ideas too 😊).

Edit - try to find wifi somewhere (most countries have internet cafes too especially developing countires where computers are unaffordable for most families) as roaming fees can be extortionate. Hth. Yes, but is it safe to use such an open wifi connection for something as sensitive as logging into your SS account or your bank account?

Yes, but is it safe to use such an open wifi connection for something as sensitive as logging into your SS account or your bank account? I have an RT66U router from ASUS on my Internet connections at home (Virgin cable and Sky dsl) and this supports a VPN server as standard. When I am away from home, I make a vpn connection from my phone, laptop or tablet via whatever WiFi connection I can find. This is as secure as if I was logging in from home. As a bonus, my connection *appears* to be from home, so when actually in foreign parts, services see me as coming in from the usual place, so I don't hit with geographic restrictions or asked to verify connections all the time..

Mike, please only use wifi that has a secure password and certainly consider logging on via an encrypted vpn tunnel. I have logged into my finacial accounts for several years when overseas simply and without one problem.

Mike, please only use wifi that has a secure password and certainly consider logging on via an encrypted vpn tunnel. I have logged into my finacial accounts for several years when overseas simply and without one problem. I use 'Private Internet Access' [other providers are available!]. This gives an encrypted connection from the PC to a choice of PIA access points over the world, making your location appear to be wherever you want. In my case, I always appear to be in the UK.
I bought it so that I could use 'BBC iPlayer' and 'Sky Go' while abroad (which I am a lot) and it works fine. But I also use it when home because of the encryption.
I am pretty certain that it's safe* even with an unsecured Wi-Fi connection because the data is encrypted before it leaves your PC. I use unsecured Wi-Fi often.
* I'm no expert in secured VPN connections; other opinions would be good to hear.
