Hi,
I've been a member of SS for a couple of months during which time the biggest complaint has been the speed with which loan parts have sold on the secondary market (faster than my old fingers can type). All of a sudden, there are tens of thousands of pounds worth of loan parts available on the secondary market. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

It's investors selling getting ready due to the unprecedented 9 loans going live today (if they are still going live today)...

You may be right but judging by recent experience we'll each be allocated about £250 worth of loan parts per new loan, it hardly seems to justify the unprecedented sell off

Maybe, but 9 X £250 = £2250 and we may get more*. It's like a single £12M+ loan coming up, though I does seem that a terrific amount of loan part churn has been (and still is) going on. I've sold a load of old stuff and spent most of the proceeds on some quite desirable more recent parts, so I'll have to put a bit more cash in tomorrow, methinks. * disclaimer - I'm not a greedy old Grumps, so will limit myself to just five of the nine, leaving plenty of the rest for everyone else. Ain't I nice??? (errr .... they still might exceed £2250 though)

We are going to get (if we want) a lot more than £250 per loan, the recent loans had about 2000 investors per loan these will probably have less subscribers so even the bottom up loans given they are nearly £1mln / 2000 equals £500 minimum per punter and £12mln/ 2000 equals £6000 per punter so the current state of the SM is more than justified IMHO.

Also not everyone would have that amount available or migt not be willing to invest it. So it is very likely that most will get more than that and many sold just to get ready to these new loans. I also took this chance to refresh my risk ratios and so Others might have done, freeing a lot of resources for everyone!

As I write nearly £1 million on the SM. Is this the start of the rush to the exit?

As I write nearly £1 million on the SM. Is this the start of the rush to the exit? No, just investors clearing their books ready for these new loans. All the available loans are the ones considered the least desirable.I have some of the Bedfordshire loans for sale... got a feeling it's going to be sitting there for a while...

I doubt it, it's just 1/12th of what people need to fund 'The Nine' (love that phrase) .. presumably a lot more has been sold and is now burning holes in pockets, waiting for the Nazgûl to stick their heads above the parapet. There's still some of today left, but I'm not going to hold my breath, nor refrain from buying anything sensible on the SM. 8>.

They've bought 700 odd quid in the garden centre today. Why?
