/mod hat off, obviously ..
A cunning plan - the chancellor (whoever that turns out to be) can nationalise all the property owned by overseas shell companies (unless the real owners step forward, puts their hands up, and claim it) .. thereby eliminating a large chunk of the national debt?

What you describe is the United Kingdom. Great Britain is the geographic title of the group of islands comprising England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the little islands in the group. Pedants rule cartography. Save

Great Britain is the political entity created by the Union of the Kingdom of Scotland with the Kingdom of England (incl Wales and some associated islands), it is the geographical isle of England, Scotland & Wales (no islands) What youre describing is the British Isles (archipelago)

The reason that I came across this was because I was doing some DD on a hospital that I am due to have an operation at within the next month or so. Apart from a hedge fund taking a large stake recently, my 'local' hospital appears to be registered in the Channel Isles Looking at the Manor house that is lived in by the owner of the business that my wife last worked at, that house and grounds is owned by a totally unrelated Virgin Islands Company perhaps unsurprisingly for a business that paid 90% of the staff minimum wage.

I don't blame you for your dd........many years ago I had to have a hernia operation and was told I had to have my crown jewels shaved.....I found this news more terrifying than the op itself.....I was justified, the guy who performed the dreaded act could see I was particularly uncomfortable and casually said "Don't worry, relax".....he then cut his finger whilst unwrapping a disposable razor.

It's an age thing. I bow to you and The Ordnance Survey ( here) But you missed an apostrophe, so there. Save

The word 'Great' signifying that it is the largest and does not relate to any past or future political standing.

But he still hasn't mastered 'save', or even 'save save', apparently. 8>. But I have asked for (useful) suggestions. Even with a brain the size of a planet, I cannot see why I have been singled out from the entire population to be the beneficiary of this gift. I've done everything I can think of: reloaded software, led a blameless life, been kind to many people, changed underwear fairly frequently, run entirely on Apple products... I mean, what else can I be expected to do? Save

Thank you for your sympathies, young cruetperson. I am purposely not quoting your good self, just to see if, as I suspect, the quote function is triggering the aforementioned lurgy. Here we go...
