After Prosper, Zopa and various other p2p lending platforms decided to close their internal forums it would have surprised me if SS would take the bold step to open one.

As is would get my vote. More forums = more time used. With everything in one place it is very easy to scan for updated threads of interest, start splitting off platforms and chances are you will miss something. (Mods, with all the talk of 'censorship' how come 'Dead Ducks' are allowed past the big red button, I'm sensitive don't you know )

Actually, savingstream is probably obliged to make public their participation in this forum because they post information here about their loans which is not available on their website. This makes for an information inbalance between lenders who monitor this forum and those that don't. That's why SS should run their own forum or publish a link to this one on their website so that all their lenders have equal access to the same information. I am extremly surprised to read such a sentence (which is legally purely FALSE) from a moderator. a) There is no legal requirement for a financial company (and even less for a non-FCA approved one) to run a forum or a discussion venue, or even to participate to one. b) There is nothing stopping a representative of any company to go and participate to public events (fairs, conferences etc) and/or web venues (fora, interviews, webcasts) expressing his view on some topics. c) The 'information imbalance' you talk about is a pure invention of yourself, which is legally not defined anywhere. It is clear and obvious that people following through their Investments via different channels (press, web, tv) will have more success and/or opportunities than those not following it. But this does not mean that a financial company has to run a forum or to give links out of their site!!!!!! Your conclusion is complete nonsense.

Having been a member of a number of forums, the only successful ones in my opinion - apart from this of course - was Zopa Talk and the Independent Funding Circle Forum (predecessor to the P2P Independent Forum). Zopa adopted a light touch moderation and let lenders discuss Zopa and other P2P companies without much interference. Going to the other extreme was YES-secure's forum where any criticism of the company was moderated (I even had a post of mine edited to completely change the meaning from critical to complementary). The other successful forums were independent and therefore lenders felt they could discuss topics more openly as any criticisms were not going to get removed.
I would certainly be in favour of growing the P2P independent forum into something bigger where we collectively have greater influence within the sector, while still maintaining independence from any P2P companies, but that is another topic!

Late but from me NO. Two reasons: here I have all my platforms in one place, easy to follow. Secondly, its free from SS influence and censorship (not they do any, but just in case).

Until you had mentioned that point, I had quite forgotten that you posted there. The name was vaguely familiar... IMHO, nobody who posted on the YES-secure/ENCASH forum board, could forget that hor1997 posted there, because of his very 'gritty' to the point and very critical posts. IMHO, without which we all would not have had our money back. That is just a personal view of mine.

Maybe if not a forum a proper q and a where questions asked by others are displayed. As I am sure a lot of people ask the same questions which seems pretty pointless not to display them like other sites do.

That would be a very good idea for the 'single loan issue' threads (we have one here for each loan .. sometimes 2 or more until they get merged). Not so easy to find a place to put the more generic SS-related questions. It still seems to be 'more work than SS are ready for', plus putting Q&A on the SS loan details sort of implies that Qs will get an official (SS) 'A', which is an irksome requirement. 8>.

Another vote for SS to actually use the Q&A screen they already have. While it is advantageous to have information available to us forum users it really should be available to all. The SS Q&A seems to be very under used. I'd like to see questions on the facts of a loan answered there so that they can be seen by all and are available to see in the future too i.e. form part of the history of the loan. I may have it wrong but my memory is that questions only appear once SS has decided that it is of general interest. Personally I think all questions should displayed immediately on the site as the posing of a good question can be very enlightening even when an answer hasn't been produced. I think if you keep it to questions related to the facts such an approach is an effective use of staff time as it avoids dealing with repeated emails and phone calls and the chance of slightly inconsistent answers. AC have an active Q&A system and it has resulted in some good Due Diligence. They take the view that the occasional questions which more opinions/rants are removed and I can understand this. This forum is a great place for debate but it would be good if it was backed up with an improved Q&A on the SS site. There is a bit of chicken and egg situation here. There are few questions posed as they don't seem to get answered on the site but if savingstream committed to making more use of the system then more would be posted on SS site rather than her.
