Squirt it with Roundup, i use this all around our place and it works... TIP. do not use in breezy weather, it kills everything it touches. I think (k)not. Japanese Knotweed is in a totally different league to your average " 'allo mate!" dandelion or hawkweed. Glyphosate will definitely do for knotweed if injected into the stems at a relatively high concentration. It also is an effective tree stump killer if carefully poured (neat) into slits cut in a newly felled stump.

Yes, I've just amended my post (before reading the corrective followups).

Roundup is simply Monsanto's trademarked brand of glyphosate. Much cheaper to buy generic glyphosate concentrate and dilute as instructed (5L of Gallup 360 can be had for £25 on Amazon and lasts me a year or two of regular weed-killing) Steve i think your right , it may be time for a change, i bought my recent batch of roundup and cost £65 , it does last around 2 years here too, but being a bit tight i am going to consider Gallup for my next batch.

A gardener contact of mine doesn't think knotweed is a big deal to get rid of but the government website makes it sound much scarier. The truth is probably somewhere in between. Governments think in terms of permits, certificates, reports ... that is whats making it difficult and expensive.

Check out Wilko's stores around the end of the gardening season - end Sept/Oct. They clear out space ready for Christmas < removed> stock. Roundup, in various guises and sizes is sold for 50%, sometimes 75% off. edit: the removed noun (which was crossed out) contained four letters, and is a colloquiallism for "merchandise of 'basic' quality". I do apologise for any upset I may have caused to employees of Wilko's, a store I patronise quite often. Thank you stardust for moderating my disgraceful use of such vocabulary.

It's one of my yearly rituals for stocking the shed too - also got the entire stock of seeds for this years veg etc for a shade under 4 quid at Wilko last October - most marked down to pennies a pack. Reaping (well picking really ... ) the rewards every day now
