This is a deal breaker for me on ViaInvest.
I only found this forum yesterday and this thread caught my eye, I had no idea they are withholding taxes since they don't mention anything during the sigh-up process. But okay, after reading a bit and googling around, I managed to ask for a table taxation relief form my the local tax authorities (Netherlands), waiting for the papers from the post. Now after all that and reading more carefully, I notice they are withholding 5% anyway on polish loans, which is the vast majority of the loans I have invested. I am not even sure they are going to accept my papers, they are asking the loan originators addresses to be present on them but there was not an option for that to be filled in when
I asked the certificate for.
I got my papers from the local tax authorities, stating I am paying taxes here (The Netherlands), they got accepted without any hustle. For now I've decided to skip polish loans and just invest in spanish ones, am I right to do so? (polish loans 11% interest, but 5% of profit withholding taxes. Spanish loans 10% interest and no withholding taxes)

If you are right in doing so? Well, 5% taxes on 11% interest leaves you with 10.45%, so you're still beating the Spanish

For the UK form they ask you to specify the country and the paragraph. I did it for Latvia but was challenged by Viainvest as it should be for each of the countries. I told Viainvest that if they needed me to get and upload 4 certs I'd withdraw and stop using them - they've accepted it for this year (n.b. they require a cert each year). Also worth noting that Viainvest claim they're ahead of the game & trying to do things properly i.e. they suggest that everyone will need this at some point in the future. I don't know about that but it would make some sort of sense, although I would think that a self-assessment return or something should be good (to prove that you are tax resident there) So, as a UK resident and a tax payer, investing via Viainvest, I’m required to pay my taxes on my interest to HMRC ? Is that correct ? Apols for late response - yes, you'll owe taxes to *someone*. The point is that you're 'proving' that your tax due is in the UK (or wherever) and that you are in effect promising you'll pay taxes due there. I *think* that you could set up in (LV,PO,LI, etc) and pay taxes there and then report them as not to be paid by HMRC but my understanding is that (for instance) if your tax was due at 20% in teh UK and 10% in, say, Latvia you'd still be on the hook for the balance (10%) in the UK. n.b. I am not a CA, solicitor, or anything. If you need actual tax advice talk to your accountant.

ViaInvest sets one interest rate for all loan originators and they sent the following email. ViaInvest has decided to make your investment choices easier and more profitable, thus we are excited to announce that all loans regardless of the country of loan origination published on the platform starting from 13.06.2019 will be listed with an 11% interest rate! So, what does this mean for you? 2 times bigger loan portfolio available for investments with an 11% interest rate Higher average interest rate on the platform Easier portfolio diversification choices, as all loan origin countries has the same interest rate Here’s how it looks like in comparison: Old annual interest rate* New annual interest rate** Sweden 9% 11% Spain 10% 11% Latvia 11% 11% Poland 11% 11% Czechia 12% 11% I know that 11% might not sound that appealing since you can get higher returns at other platforms but it has one of the best loan performances and all originators are from the same group, which is a very profitable and high-growth company. They also have a refer-a-friend program and you are eligible to receive a 10€ sign-up bonus after investing at least 50€ after sign-up.
