Bidding seems OK on website. What's all the fuss? It is now. Not sure if it's because they've reverted back to Ol' Faithful and given up (again) on the new look. I even managed to keep up and get a bit in @ 10.9%, although it was touch and go with all the delayed bid flashes for ages after the "official" close.

I predict that will cause some raised eyebrows if we meet up down the pub. But back at p2p world, I did load up the bids at 10.9% and went off and had supper, so I am quite chuffed. I did backstop some 10.8s though. The tea leaves were slightly disordered on that point.

Auction 7489: Did anyone else see any weirdness at the end of auction? I had a 12.4% bid knocked out, and was refused ability to rebid at 12.1% (even though 12.1% was still available AND would have been "in") on the grounds that "Sorry, you bid cannot be placed, reduce your bids and try again". Was bidding £20, can't reduce that. Had £83 in holding account, so it wasn't "stuck money" not being returned ... Refresh page. Try again, still no good. And then it's all over. Any reason why FC are rejecting perfectly good bids? Borrowers, you are being done over again! Auction 7498: This was even worse. Not due to "busy auction", this was going wrong during slack bidding time. About 15:30, with over an hour to run, my bid looked like this :- 14.0% £4,422 Rejected 14.0% £5,166 Live 93 bids £3,086 Your 1 bid £20 38 bids £2,060 And over the next 10 mins, £1500 was put in at 13.7-13.9% with NO movement in the 14.0% band. Not possible. Yet again, FC are not removing "failed" bids, locking people into bids that are doomed to fail later, and misrepresenting the auction. Refresh. Refresh. This persisted from at least 15:30, when I noticed it, to within 2 minutes of auction end, when it all went mental, displayed rubbish data, and finally cleared as if nothing was wrong. Just so happens my log-a-bot was running through that period, so I can confirm the screwups .. here's what it saw! (anything under £1k is ignored as "acceptable error" .. it isn't acceptable, but the log file is limited to just a few GB!). I assume it's self evident what this says - the 'live' bids exceeded the loan size by the amount it is bitching about. Usually you might get one or two at the end of a busy auction - during this period it was well broken. 8<. And no, it was mosly not bidding (rates uninteresting in most cases), but it likes to gawp anyway. 8>.

Your 15:30 screen was ok but after that everything was false. What you didn't see was that, at the same time, the tall one (not me despite the name) banged in a huge number of £960 bids at 13.4% (just out of sight on the bid screen) instantly knocking out everyone above that rate. As a worst case scenario if we assume all the other bidders were bidding £20 then for each (single) £960 bid the server has to update 48 accounts and publish the results which it could not do in time. Now with everyone's screen still showing 14% people continued to bid at 13.9, 13.8, 13.7 which were all rejected. Naturally this clogged up the server even more causing havoc on this auction. People with loadsamoney can game the system. I've been caught out on other auctions and am now watching carefully at the end of each loan I have bid on. John

Yes, but that doesn't explain the documented (see my long post) screw ups on lots of other auctions, some of which started well before 15:30. The tall-one spike (~10k) at 15:35 on that one auction shows up, but so does plenty of other garbage.

Problems again this PM .. I dunno what was happening at FC ( I certainly wasn't bidding on anything) but all of a sudden it was impossible to get to several loan pages .. eg

I was logging the HTTP responses at the time, and these all came back with a 404 error (page not found). A Minute later the server changed its mind and there they were again... I guess it must just have overloaded?!

I guess it must just have overloaded?! The "loan parts sold" page has been doing that too, since the "upgrade", you switch to the "Sold" tab and get an embedded 404 page instead. Flick away and back, it returns.

Has anyone else had problems with the FC website this afternoon? I’m finding it almost impossibly slow and generously interspersed with “bad gateways” and 404’s.
