It's more the tax position as you are taxed on all the rolled up interest as well as anything you then earn. Does this apply to UK investors only, or to EU based investors as well? I'm not familiar with EU tax rules, all the rolled up interest will be treated the same as any interest earned as it's all counted in the total interest earned figure. Edit : Just for context, this is relating to the FS platform sm.

As a rough rule of thumb, if the UK rules differ from "the EU rules", then it's because countries are free to set their own rules, so there are no "EU rules", just 28 different countries having their own rules. The UK - contrary to popular opinion - is not some special case.
