Do we have an issue related to bots scanning the secondary market? I'd be interested in MoneyThing 's view, as it seems to be the the same handful of people 'instantly' scooping up offers across the board. if so could I suggest a simple solution (either/or/both) 1. An mail to users when a sale of a decent size, say >£500 comes onto the market 2. A restriction on how may SM bids one user can make inside, say 5 minutes? Any views? Persoanlly I do not bother but some people have the page to notify when changes, so if at computer can get on pretty quick. From a sellers point of view why would you want to restrict someone buying, as that is the point of the secondary market. It is obviously an irritation for those not quick enough and/or not having the time to trawl and buy on the SM. On the other hand, as ben says, it is a significant bonus to be able to sell parts, however large, in a matter of minutes. Compare trying selling parts at FS with selling at MT. By all means have MT deal with bot users but otherwise I think restrictions would introduce another set of grievances.

I would have been quite happy if my sales today had been in a matter of minutes. However both seemed to be snapped up so quickly it was almost disconcerting. Just saying...

I don't even bother looking at the SM any more as the chance of getting anything is almost impossible however quick you are,I'm sure purchases are automated

This doesn't allow everyone to have a fair chance at the SM. Unless MT can increase the number/value of new loans faster than the number of new account holders, there will come a time when it's impossible for non-bot users to increase the value of their portfolio because their old loans will be repaying at the same rate as new ones becoming available. Just saying!

Just for balance.
I picked up over £500 on sm on Saturday. Single account, no bot, no page change notification.

I did too, but its only got 3 weeks to run so the bot was probably told to leave it. (I'm hoping it extends)

... disconcerting ... but not complaining, are you? No, as I said, just saying.... Quite a few bits on SM today Clearly multiple people buying them and no sign of bot level speed
I got a couple of bits myself to use up interest so if you pay some attention then you can get some.
Honestly I think demand is many many times greater than availability so they go quick because a lot of people looking, if only 60 people refreshed once a minute on average someone would see the loan within 1 second, a few more to buy, availability just few seconds, hardly surprising if people who do what these scraps have to be quick.

You may well be right. I sold 4 or 5 scraps to day, sub £10) each gone in <30 secs.
