I was wondering if someone could answer this simple question. If I send money to my account now (17:22) would it be applied to my account today? or the next working day?
The phone staff have no idea and told me that I will need to wait for a reply by email, but could not confirm when I will receive the email.

It's a call centre - you're better off e-mailing them (even then it is hit and miss...) Your money should be there tomorrow (as they are working).

Yeah funny how they credit accounts on Saturdays, but don't process any withdrawals....(or only sufficiently rarely to tease us into thinking it might be worth trying...)

I don't think that's true - I've had a withdrawal processed on a Saturday in the past. I'm pretty sure they reconcile receipts and do the payment runs one after the other or do neither.

And that's what I mean... they've done it just enough for us to know it's possible...but at the same time you definitely cannot rely on it - there have been numerous reports on this board of Friday withdrawals that haven't turned up until Monday (and I've had at least a couple before I switched delaying any Friday sales to Sunday)

I guess it boils down to whether they bother going in on any given Saturday with the default being no. More consistency would be welcome, otherwise I find it hard to complain about the current timing of processing of withdrawals and deposits.

It may even be worse - am sure there's been some Saturdays where they HAVE been there because they've processed deposits but not withdrawals....

Looks like no one is in the Saving Stream office today because the deposit did not get processed.

My transfer to clear a neg balance has not bee processed either. With the new SM rules coming in soon this has got to be improved.
It really is about time that SS introduced a debit card processing system with immediate fund availability in the way the the far smaller Co ABLRATE manage to offer.
MT manage to process bank reconciliation within minutes but I suspect that is dedicated staff online more or less 24/7 which is nice but unrealistic to ask of SS.

LW See the new instant deposit method thread. Ok but that is an old thread and does not give any indication that SS are going to do anything about it. With full INPL it became redundant. Now with new SM restrictions we are going to need something similar if the SM is not to become a shadow of its former self. LW

There's been recent discussion on the topic (including at the end of that thread), but it seems that I may have misrecalled the content, and neglected to verify the relevance of the thread.

Finally got a response today. Which might be because 10.5k was transferred in last night. "Thank you for your email. Please note that Funds deposited before 5pm will be credited to your account the following morning, with the exception of weekends when deposits will be treated as a Monday deposit and will be credited on Tuesday morning."

Previously cash deposited at the weekend would be treated as a weekend deposit and credited to your account first thing on Monday morning. Now they are treating it as a Monday deposit and not crediting it to your account until Tuesday morning and the effect of that is you can't invest it for a day later and that is saving them 1 days interest and costing the Investor 1 days interest.
