"The car is coming to our store directly from a main Bentley dealer". I would suspect a cash flow issue.

Who said the really wealthy had taste - gold plated taps anyone?? Some of the wealthiest are young premier league football players: so I have no idea who would have thought that would be true.

I haven't figured out why the borrower is borrowing from FS. If it's a buyer, why buy a car and then not use it for 6 months while it depreciates? And couldn't they get an ordinary auto loan a lot cheaper?
If it's the dealer needing to finance their inventory, surely they can do better than FS rates via the manufacturer. And what's the point of having a car in inventory if you can't show it to potential buyers?
I'd consider it if FS had an agreed purchase agreement for six months from now, but not without one. The Cadillac had one and it still took three months after the loan matured before we got our money back. Without one, I can envision it taking longer, and I'm not convinced a year-old model would bring in enough at auction to return all the capital and accrued interest/fees.
One possible clue to why someone would buy one now and put it into storage might be this, from a Sep.'15 news item... I haven't a clue whether the waiting list is still as long.
Then again, if it is long and your order was coming to the top of the list before you were prepared to take delivery, I'd have thought you could sell your position to someone else further down in the list and walk away with a packet.
Meanwhile, this loan doesn't seem to have received an overly enthusiastic response. Even with no bidding restrictions, it still has £57k available (64% funded) at 1725.

The Panoz isn't over popular either, not that I'm surprised. It's quite specialised with a very limited market if it Defaults I'd have thought..

(The Bentley is at 76%.) Does anyone know if the Panoz could be driven on public roads legally if it's currently set up for racing?

I'm assuming it's the same one that has just been repaid on MT! p2pindependentforum.com/post/173417/thread

Panoz won't be road legal as it does not have things like indicators.

The current loan is for 154k. The previous loan was for 160k, the difference is "to reflect the fact that it is 3 months old" (quoting FS website).

There's a worse place to put £50 for 11 days I guess...

There's a worse place to put £50 for 11 days I guess... Yup - a small bit of tax-free interest received gratefully into by IFISA. On the negative side, I no longer part-own a Bentley.
