Interesting . . . from page 55 of today's Times in an article about investing in student lodgings:
"Assetz capital is to launch opportunities this summer after a recent success netting 10% returns for investors. . . . . . " (The 10% presumably being the student housing loan last year.)
Does this mean that Times financial jornalists get information such as this before investors?

I'm sure I read a while ago that The Assetz Group (AC is only a part of it) dabble heavily in property in term of sourcing them for rich clients. That must include student accommodation investments. I wonder if AH was referring to this when he announced there would be an interesting offer in the pipeline? Another student accomodation deal perhaps?

After all didn't AH say something like, "these are interesting" when he was referring to a petition from HMRC to wind up (a winder) a business we'd just given a loan to. Winders are interesting to AH...

Ton ⓉⓞⓃ - You asked about reserving your rights. There is case law around defaults and how they should be managed. It has been known for lenders to see a default but do nothing about it only to try and act on those defaults at a later date. The case law states you cannot go back to a previous default and take action if you did not recognise the default at the time. Reserving our rights means we have recognised the default and CAN go back to it at a later date if we so choose. It is a protective mechanism for the lender (a bit like a ref letting 2 dubious tackles go by before booking the player for the third). Does that help? Also, I find lots of things interesting and some things fascinating. There are lots of projects being worked on to help increase deal flow that i mentioned previously in my original post. The student thing is one that we mentioned to the journalist when they asked. Until we have more detail, all I can say is it is in the pipeline and I hope to deliver it soon.
