Wow, the adverts gets better. And that ladies and gentlemen, is why I turned on my ad-blocker for this site after previously disabling it. I wanted to support proboards, but they clearly don't do any vetting whatsoever of their advertisers. Highest bidder gets your eyeball space, and that's all that matters to them. I think the worst example I saw was an advert for "The Brit Method" (a binary options trading scam, goes by many other 'method' names) on MSN money. Whilst I appreciate that MSN money isn't exactly the final word in finance, I kinda like to browse it from time to time. And to see that advert there... wow, just wow. Do yourselves a favour and invest a morning learning about how seedy this stuff is. Turn on privacy options in your browser, use duckduckgo instead of Google/whatever, invest in a VPN, visit the EFFs website, find out about the snoopers charter, find out why that item you viewed on eBay a few days ago is now 'following you around' on unrelated websites you visit. You don't have to be a terrorist or criminal to want privacy online. Resist. Yahoo Finance (among other sites) is infested with ads for binary option scams, including "The Brit Method".

Well I can't give you a "+1" there without signing up to that forum, so have one here instead .

Well I can't give you a "+1" there without signing up to that forum, so have one hear instead . You can sign up there without too much bother if you want. It ties into your ProBoards account, you just have to pick a forum nickname again (or use the same one, if available). When you then sign into one, you sign into all.

I have been trying to find something to block Adblock detection but so far nothing works for this one. I have managed to get rid of all the social media buttons which have been annoying me and blocking things I am reading on many sites, so the exercise has had some benefit.

Okay, I've had enough of the "Can we talk?" along the bottom, and more recently on another Proboards forum, where the "Can we talk?" took over the entire screen. But I think this might happen if you are not logged in, as I wasn't logged in when I saw that. I tried Proboards, I honestly tried to run without an ad-blocker, but the ads were obviously tracking me despite having "Do not track" enabled, often played sounds/video (something which you claim doesn't happen), and some were outright scams. I'm never allowing that garbage onto my network or my computer. Simple as that. Proboards have actually done a good job of trying to evade ad-blockers by assigning random IDs to elements. So if you ask your ad-blocker to block them, it will only work for a short while as it will only trigger the specific element with the ID used that specific time. It's also embedded into the main forum code, so if you block that script you end up losing a lot of functions. The usual game of whack-a-mole never changes. So here it is, some custom uBlock Origin rules, hand written by myself. Tested on Firefox 54.0 with uBlock Origin 1.13.8 and with Chrome and uBlock Origin as well. This will probably work with other browsers with uBlock Origin as well but I'm too lazy to test. This will work with other proboards sites as well. Change the p2pindependentforum.com part of the settings to whichever site you want. You can have multiple copies of this if you like, one for every site you want cleaning up. To install, click the ublock icon in the toolbar, then the little "three cogs" icon, then go to "My Filters" tab, and copy and paste the below text EXACTLY as it is here and click "Apply changes":
This also removes the statistics of who is logged in etc and a bunch of noise along the bottom. Stuff that's just a further distraction in my mind. If you would rather keep those, then copy and paste this instead: Before and after shot: Let me know if you need help installing this

Thanks ribsFor a very long time I've found firefox slows down after an hour or so (like by 75%). Restart FF, all is good again. I have about 20 static tabs, and thought it might be related to that - or the other addons. I knew Adblock+ rendered pages inefficiently but put up with the negatives. Anyway I noticed uBlock does same thing as Adblock, so disabled it. Probably jinxed it now - but FF is still flying after 9 hours. And as a bonus you got rid of the proboard nags Best.

I have been using your rules on Firefox / uBlock. The forum screens works much better with these rules. The screen used to keep jumping about using ublock without these rules. It is just a shame that proboards could not find a less intrusive way of managing adverts then I would not need to block them at all.

Thank very much for this. Just to let any Chrome users out there know I've been running this on Chrome / uBlock since you posted with no problems at all. Thanks. I'll update my post.
