Just had a quick look at the all time loan book, I've taken out all the loan which have been repaid and are now closed
which now shows that I have 4940 loans of which 46 are showing a status of Default all bar 1 (Pre Safeguard) are in Plus
of which bar 2 (£100) are £10 or less loans
The point I was making was that it seems to me that of the total earnings during 2017 todate it seems to be a high
amount of defaults compared to the amount I've earned, I'm no maths expert or financial wizz kid, I'm just letting people
reading this my observations.
I'm still getting a better return from Zopa than I would get from a bank
I wasn't saying you were right or wrong or trying to pry too much and I think its safe to say that I'm no maths expert, I can work excel in quite a complex way. I'm still trying to find the best way to establish what I am really getting as a percentage and probably like you at the end of the day I am taking whole book approach and I too am beating the banks although to be fair it wouldn't take much to do that these days.
I agree that defaults seem more than they were a couple of years ago. I guess I've just been very lucky so far with plus and only have a very small number of defaults but then I am only into Plus for slightly over £1000 so that's 100 loans with 2 actual defaults and about 5 collections that may or may not mature into defaults. My diversification is usually pretty good too - where I haven't cocked up by being too impatient in my lending rate.
What would be nice I think would be to be able to do last 12 months in statements then it would not be too hard to chart real earnings rates on a month on month basis. I have this in my spreadsheets by mapping monthly statements but it would be whole deal easier if zopa added that option to their statements list.
Someone asked above if Zopa is watching - I think some of the team used to watch this when they first dropped their own forum but I can't help thinking no one has been here for months or if they have they are just reading. I eMail quite a bit to Zopa and others do too. I've never had anyone mind when I asked if I could post their answer on here. They certainly seem to have gone very corporate since the new boss arrived so perhaps they don't see the need to defend themselves - or dare I say they've decided the politician approach works for them.
