Trying to reduce exposure to fundingsecure but they hold (not physically) your money for years and then do a poor job of recovering your money after they take their cut of your money. They have gone dark for over a month on this forum. Maybe fundingsecure needs a Paul64 So they are logging on but choosing not to post.

Difficult to reduce with all that lovely p2p income coming in every month. I usually want to reinvest it immediately.

This is why I think p2p works for some people... they can 'see' their cash growing which is harder with shares and especially ACC funds. That said, my percentage of net wealth in p2p has probably flat lined in the last few months and is now dropping slightly.

I make a decent 4 figure return from it every month which most months I reinvest. My % has also flatlined but what I am doing is re-evaluating the return by platform and balancing this out to spread risk.

I suspect they just have more money in it - £400 000 under 10% return would give one a decent 4 figure monthly sum

Several investors have this sort of money as pocket fluff elephantrosie. Look at the massive £100k per loan thay one investor dropped on each loan without due dilligence for an example. This level of playtime high risk 5% of total investments money can come from several places. Right place, right time with right product to sell a company. Lottery win. Inheritances. Family money or syndication. Using every trick in the book to grow a pot tax free or tax deferred and reinvesting the proceeds. Keep going with your pot. Minimise losses by timing sell outs correctly. You have plenty of time to grow your pot. Knowing at what age to start moving to defensive investments for your own situation is important. However, you are aiming for "financial independence by age 45" so the latter may not apply yet. S

No matter how much you earn or how much you are worth being prudent and careful with what you have is one of the secrets to living a happy life. I know people with huge sums of money and I can tell you that it certainly doesnt buy happiness, but it does give them freedom - but in reality you dont need huge sums of money to be independent/free you just have to be sensible.
