You used to get a bonus from investing far less. I deleted the email without consideration as I don’t have friends that are gonna invest £5000 in something they’d not previously considered for a mere 2% bonus. Doubt it will have much impact.

There certainly seems to be a lot more money on the rolling market all of a sudden and today is the first match I've had under 4% in over 2 months.
Whether this is due to the new bonus or not I am unsure - to my mind, I don't think 100 on 5k is much of a carrot.

I just got an email about an offer where you could invest another £5k of your own money for a year to collect a £100 bonus. Offer runs during December and you have to use their special link. Not for me, but it might interest someone...

Clearly they wish to bring down the 1 year rate as it is substantially higher now than in the summer.

It appeared in my monthly statement email immediately beneath the statement figures and above links to their blog stories. Maybe it was only targeted at some subset of customers? It didn't mandate investment specifically into the 1 year market, but that does match the term of the offer.

Which is a shame, as I might have taken them up on it.

Nothing in my statement, and I would have been up for another 5k as well.
I guess they may target folks who do not invest as much or as frequently, I suppose it makes no sense to target people who may invest anyway!

I was one of those who left RS in the summer, and was surprised to receive a letter (not email) from them yesterday encouraging my return. In view of earlier comments in this thread, I might have expected a financial incentive, but RS seemed to think just listing recent improvements would be enough to entice me back. Maybe a bonus will be offered in due course when I do not respond.

But if you are up for another £5k anyway (I don't see why not as you will get 2% extra on money you already want to lend!) simply open another account, maybe in another name in your household (Wife etc.). If you do that, you get £50, they get £100 and on £5k that works out as an extra 3%.
