HI
So like many folk on here, I've long since paid off the mortgage and have a nest egg invested. I doubt I'm classed as "high net worth" but I do have access to liquid 6-7 figures with overall assets well into 7.
I have a credit card (paid off in full each month), two UK current bank accounts and I've checked my record at Experian and Noddle. It all seems clean. I've not been late paying anything for years and years and never had any issues in the past.
So (to cut a very, very sad, frustrating and long story short) I wanted today to add a Vodafone pay monthly sim card to my broadband account which I'd only just been accepted (although still not working) a few weeks ago. After wasting a stupid amount of time, it turns out my credit check for the new pay monthly sim failed ( the telephone/broadband having gone through a few weeks ago without issue). They are apparently going to appeal it internally tomorrow but I just can't understand why such a thing could fail. I did (under their online messaging system guidance) apply several times today for the same thing. I could understand why that might be an issue but why did it screw up the first time?
I guess I'm not really holding out much hope (but you never know) for anyone who has knowledge of this but preferred to post here since there are many like minded folk and maybe just maybe someone will know more about the internal workings of these things than I do !

Thanks Magenta. Your efforts are much appreciated and I suspect you might be right in that applying for a second credit agreement with them within a short space of time might have been the issue.
I've learned some lessons: a/ No matter what your net worth, being able to access credit can sometimes be handy. b/ Never deal with Vodafone again. c/ Think very carefully indeed before changing broadband supplier.

I had the same issue trying to move to Vodafone broadband towards the end of November 2017.
I failed the credit check - which given I am in a strong financial position was farcical. I called up to find out what was going on and even offered to pay for everything up front on the spot (as I didnt need credit) but no go.
I moved to BT Fibre instead with no issue, and no issue whatsoever with the credit check.
So this seems to be a Vodafone issue I suspect with their broadband application rather than anything specific to your credit file.

You, like many of us, have a core problem, we don't use credit so we are not credit worthy...... I know, bizarre but true.

I had a similar issue about a year ago. I have had no problems with credit anywhere else, but when I wanted two Vodafone sims at about £25 per month I was rejected citing a credit issue. A rival gave me two sims without any problem.

I have actually noticed the same as many of you on here. Since paying off my mortgage and all other credit agreements over the last few years my credit rating has now deteriorated (And continues to do so each month).
The only thing that I can suggest that is keeping me somewhat creditworthy is the fact hat I have a credit card that I use and pay off in full each month. That way at least your credit file has positive payments in it.
