Research and Development Advance loan, 10%, 400k, Unsecured.
Our borrower is using AI to interrogate video footage and has two previous successful RD claims (gov’t provide 1/3 cash rebate for qualifying RD); this loan bridges their 2017 claim whilst they start full trading this year. Repayment is made to AO.
Was up for a punt on the RDA but repayment is most likely contingent upon 4.6M funding round as well and, despite doing well in previous rounds, this one is larger and a double punt puts this beyond my risk appetite.
A loan type I’ll watch though, would have been my first AO loan.

I too feel this one's not for me but will be very interested in future offerings.

68% filled. I like ArchOver and have several investments with them, the risk for this new loan seems a little to high for me. 10% is not quite enough. If I could invest at £500 I would have participated, but 1k just to much for first dabble. Looking forward to similar offerings though.

I like the idea of R&D tax rebate loans, but I'm not confident enough about them to invest when they're to companies swimming in ponds with other fish like Google and Alibaba.

Put off by the silly name of the company and the line in the blurb
"looking for a £400k advance on its R&D tax reclaim to accelerate its roadmap". Do what???

Not really to the point, but just to mention that I was surprised by the revenue when they refused the Patent Costs element of my company's R&D claim. Well no complaints at the IR, they had to because it said so in black and white in the rules. But what a stupid rule. The absolute test of have we done something new is to apply for a patent, and it can be mighty expensive, and in many cases there's not much point in inventing something if everyone can copy you as soon as you launch it. I had a go at my MP, who managed to get a letter out of some minister saying, no because patents are in fact capital investments. Tosser, if all R&D isn't an investment, albeit one that should be expensed immediately, I don't know what is ! So if anyone has a pet politician who might be interested please give them a prod.

This loans feel as dodgy to me as the recent Moneything unsecured loan which seems to be relying on HS2 payments - I don't think loans should be presented that rely on a magic money tree payment down the line with zilch in the way of security.
I might be tempted to dabble, but the 1k minimum is too high a barrier of entry to me.
