What tips for cooling down? One of my neighbours was brought up in Egypt and Singapore (military family) and learnt a really good trick for staying cool - wet a tea towel and put it round your neck, when it warms up turn it over. Repeat. You do get a bit damp doing this but it works v well for keeping you cool.

You're a bit late if you want a fan.
I live near Exeter and the nearest Argos with something suitable is in Salisbury, about 95 miles away.
why people still shop at argos and why they have not yet gone the way of maplins is beyond me! the sort of tat maplins used to sell and argos still sell can easily be found on Amazon for a better price, and most times you can find something of better quality for a better price. add that together with fast delivery, fantastic returns policy and its win win win ! Same day, timed delivery slots, delivery on nearly all items for just £4 (Where prime only gets about 50% of items to me next day).

I go onto youtube and find long videos of rainstorms or rainforest sounds and let them play from my laptop in the background, very soothing and cooling

Hoping for possible rain tonight, cool shower before bed, there was a suggestion on BBC Breakfast of a hot water bottle cooled in the freezer, but I don't have one. Cool your wrists and ankles (in cold water) where the blood vessels are near the surface. You do know what thongs are in the UK? A pair of thongs seems counter productive in cooling down. What? Really??
You don't have a freezer?
No wonder you're hot
