What tips for cooling down? You're a bit late if you want a fan.
I live near Exeter and the nearest Argos with something suitable is in Salisbury, about 95 miles away.

Gets a bit warm over here and otherwise healthy people start wilting. Even in the med countries they have siestas in the afternoon because it's supposedly too hot.
Every building site in Oz carries on in 35C++ heat, no wuckers, they just get on with it.
And you lot won two World Wars?!! Well, with a little help. :-)

Sit with your feet in a bowl of cold water, if you can get cold water.

With global warming only going to get worse, you need to start taking your holidays in Scotland to escape the heat.

Wringed out well flannel over the face in bed. Or same with a sheet if really warm!
Windows open after sunset, closed in the daytime.
Fan with a bucket of iced water behind it.
Bottle half filled with water, then put in the freezer - Longer lasting ice cube!
Failing that, a long holiday to somewhere northern/southern 😀

Whack on a T-shirt, shorts and a pair of thongs (flipflops) and ENJOY it, it won't be around for long.

The real art form, which one develops at a very young age in Oz, is the ability to run flat out in a pair of thongs. Now THAT takes skill!

Hoping for possible rain tonight, cool shower before bed, there was a suggestion on BBC Breakfast of a hot water bottle cooled in the freezer, but I don't have one. Cool your wrists and ankles (in cold water) where the blood vessels are near the surface. You do know what thongs are in the UK? A pair of thongs seems counter productive in cooling down.

Photographer friend of mine here in Blighty regaled me about the time he met with an Aussie couple to discuss the photography and filming of their Big Day. Halfway through talking about their requirements the Bride says to my mate, "And after the ceremony everyone will come back to the reception and change into thongs." He was unaware of the Australian vernacular. He is now. More:- "Togs" are your swimming costume and a "port" is a suitcase, these are both peculiar to Brisbane/Queensland only. No more on this, I'm hijacking the Posting/Thread.
