“Just because a firm is on the register, it doesn’t mean you get a full level of protection,” he said. “We are dealing with everything from firms that that are registered for money laundering right through to the largest banking and investment groups in the country. “So we try to make it more comprehensive in terms of how people understand the information on there.” “So we try to make it more comprehensive in terms of how people understand the information on there.” Argh I see, it all makes sense now, so when we looked at the FCA register to check if Collateral was registered we should have understood that the information provided to us on the FCA website was maybe correct but could also be totally wrong and make our investment decisions based on that !!! I am not sure how we missed that Also can you classify someone being able update their details on the FCA website without any validation a cyber attack ?? The exact quote was this at Q149. I have also read other papers where the FCA use the warnings printed at the bottom of entries regarding the accuracy of the register. Note these entries were introduced around the time that the FCA discovered the false Col entry. 'Behind the scenes' we have a 'selection' of entries thanks to the wonders of wayback machine which could prove to be very valuable if the FCA use this against Col investors. You can't. A response is already prepared, I aim to send it to the Treasury Committee over the weekend. I may be able to post the details 'here' but we need to thoroughly check if the information included has any chance of prejudicing any legal proceedings first.

I have recently lodged another complaint with the FCA which as expected was deferred. I note So all Col investors who have complained should be receiving notification as above. Not sure how this fits in with Nikhil Rathi's September date (it probably doesn't since this is the 6 month review) but keep an eye out for FCA Emails.

I have been looking at the list of complainants on the FCA complaints webpage but have not been able to find any reference to Collaterall ln the Investors listings. Have I been looking in the wrong place?

Have I been looking in the wrong place? I'm not exactly sure where you are looking or what you are looking for, but the lodged complaints are not visible and the FCA do not print them. FWIW I know there were 313 Col complainants listed at 19/02/2020. Since some of those individuals (like me) may have complained multiple times and on behalf of wife or Ltd Co the actual number of complaints deferred at present is certainly higher.

You know, I haven;t heard from the FCA about further deferrals for a long time. I wonder if they have conveniently lost our complaint...

You will only hear every 6 months and as I posted above the next date is 'late June early July', there will be an exact date, I was posting what I received in response to my recent complaint. The FCA know there are a lot of complaints outstanding as acknowledged by Nikhil Rathi (Chief Exec) at Q151 This wording as you can expect is opaque, does "as the investigation reaches its conclusion." Mean the actual investigation or does it include the legal proceedings that might follow.

Duck,
May I ask if you can share the first part of the email that comes from the FCA? I'd like to check when they last contacted me.

Well I haven't received a 6 month notice from the FCA today. They were late (by a day if I remember correctly) on one previous occasion. This unfortunately seems to be the way with the FCA, FOI's have been continually answered one day late missing the 20 working days deadline.
Lets hope there is something waiting for me early tomorrow morning or something appears in my inbox tomorrow ......

If they can't even update us within the timescale that they set themselves then I have even less trust in them than I had before.
